Zhenjiang Mountain Scenic Area, which is composed of the Jinshan Scenic Area, Jiaoshan Scenic Area, and Beigushan Scenic Area with different scenery, is a national AAAAA-level tourist scenic spot.
Mount Bei Gu
Bei Gu Mountain in the Zhenjiang Mountain Scenic Area, because of the distant view of Bei Gu, on the side of the big river, the stone wall is bumpy, and the mountain is dangerous. Bei Gu Mountain is between Jinshan and Jiaoshan Mountain, bordering the Dajiang River, divided into three peaks, front, middle, and rear, and the main peak is 58.5 meters above sea level.
It is said that when Emperor Wu of Liang ascended Bei Gu Mountain, he personally wrote the six characters of “The First Jiangshan in the World 天下第一江山”, which was rewritten by the famous calligrapher Wu Ju 吴琚 of the Southern Song Dynasty, and the stone was copied by Cheng Kangzhuang程康庄 during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, which is still embedded in the gallery wall.
The front peak of Bei Gu Mountain is Gulougang 鼓楼岗, which is said to be the palace of Sun Quan 孙权 of the Three Kingdoms Period and the palace of Zhou Yu 周瑜. The middle peak used to have the Bei Gu Mountain House, and at the bottom of the mountain, there was the obliterated tomb of Liu Yong 柳永, an outstanding Song dynasty poet who had been annihilated. There is a phoenix pond under the mountain corridor west of the middle peak, and it is said that Zhu Yuanzhang 朱元璋, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, once came to the phoenix pond to discuss political affairs.
Mount Jin
Mount Jin is one of the three mountains in the Zhenjiang Mountain Scenic Area. Ancient Jinshan is an island standing in the middle of the Yangtze River, “ten thousand small rivers flowing east, an island standing in the middle”, and Guazhou 瓜州, Xijin ferry 西津渡 into a horn, for the north-south travel route, known as “the heart of the river a hibiscus”.
It was not until the Daoguang years of the Qing Dynasty that it began to connect with the land of the south bank, so “riding a donkey to the Jinshan mountain” was once popular. Jinshan is more natural and the scenery is unique, and it has been one of the most beautiful tourist resorts in China since ancient times.
Jinshan in the Zhenjiang Mountain Scenic Area is famous for its beauty, the temple is golden and brilliant, shoulder to shoulder, and a tower rises from the ground, pointing directly to the clouds, no matter the near view, always see the temple and do not see the mountain, to have “The Golden Mountain Temple wrapped the mountain” saying. The Wanshou Mountain 万寿山 in Beijing’s Summer Palace, the “Tianyu Xianchang 天宇咸畅” in Chengde Mountain Resort 承德避暑山庄, and the “Little Golden Mountain” in Yangzhou’s Slender West Lake 瘦西湖 all borrow from the architectural art of “mountain wrapped in temples” and “towering mountains”.
Jinshan has many scenic spots and monuments, and it is all over the place. The exquisite Cishou Pagoda 慈寿塔 stands on the northwest peak of Jinshan Mountain, 30 meters high, and the entire Golden Mountain and Golden Mountain Temple are just right as if the mountain has been raised. The brick and wood structure of the tower, up and down the passage, each floor on eight sides of the corridor and railing, eight sides of ventilation, the surface of the scenery, and layers of scenery are not the same.
There are many historical allusions and moving legends in Jinshan Temple, such as “The Legend of the White Snake 白蛇传” flooding Jinshan, Liang Hongyu 梁红玉 beating drums and fighting Jinshan, etc. are all popular and widely circulated.
Mount Jiao
Mount Jiao is one of the three mountains in the Zhenjiang Mountain Scenic Area. Jiaoshan was originally named Qiao Shan 樵山, and legend has it that Emperor Zhenzong of Song changed its name to Jiao Shan in honor of Jiao Guang 焦光, an eastern Han Dynasty priest who once lived in seclusion in the mountains, and has been used to this day.
Jiaoshan landscape is natural and true, to the ancient tree monument to drink the reputation, temple buildings are hidden in the old trees and lush, and Jinshan opposite, known as “Jiaoshan Mountain Wrapped In Temple” saying. Dinghui Temple 定慧寺 on the mountain, formerly known as Puji Zen Temple 普济禅寺, is one of the earliest temples in Jiangnan, and the Kangxi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty personally inscribed the temple name plaque when he toured the south through Jiaoshan.
Jiaoshan Mountain, one of the “Three Mountains of Jingkou”, is famous for its natural landscape and simple elegance, and is the only tourist island surrounded by water on all sides of the Yangtze River.
Jiaoshan landscape is natural and real, Jiaoshan towering in the heart of the river, like a “mainstay”, the momentum is thin; The ancient trees on the mountain are lush, the stone carvings are lined up, and the temple buildings are hidden in the old trees and green cages, so there is a saying of “Jiaoshan Mountain Wrapped In Temple”.
According to the Jiaoshan Chronicle, Emperor Zhenzong of Song was ill and could not be cured for a long time, so he suddenly had a dream and dreamed that an old man walked into his palace, claiming to be Jiao Guang, a hermit in the southeast, and sent Dan medicine to cure him. When Zhenzong woke up, his illness was indeed cured. Emperor Zhenzong enthroned Jiao Guang as the Duke of Ming Ying, and the Spring and Autumn Sacrifices were made in the Ancestral Temple, and at the same time, all the fields and servants of Jiaoshan were exempted. Since then, Jiaoshan in the Zhenjiang Mountain Scenic Area has become famous.
