Brief Introduction
Hailing Island Dajiao Bay Maritime Silk Road 海上丝绸之路 Tourist Area, located in the Zhapo Town 闸坡镇, Hailing Island 海陵岛, Yangjiang City 阳江市, Guangdong Province 广东省, has a subtropical monsoon climate.
Major scenic spots of Dajiaowan include Dajiao Bay 大角湾, Mawei Island 马尾岛, and Zhapo seafood market 闸坡海市. It is a comprehensive coastal tourist area integrating swimming, vacationing, eating seafood, and buying seafood. It is a national AAAAA tourist attraction.
In 1989, the scenic spot of Mawei Island, Dajiao Bay, Hailing Island, was rated as one of the first provincial tourist attractions. After more than 20 years of tourism development and construction, Hailing Island has increasingly improved its infrastructure, including food, accommodation, transportation, travel, shopping, and entertainment.
Since 2014, Hailing Island has actively implemented the five strategies of “innovation-driven, project-driven, tourism-driven, environment-driven, and culture driven”, focusing on infrastructure construction, tourism project construction, and urban expansion and quality improvement. The island is changing with each passing day, and the market rank management is standardized, attracting more and more domestic and foreign tourists.

Dajiao Bay is located at the southeast end of Zhapo Town, Hailing Island, Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province. It is a famous AAAA tourist attraction in China. The Dajiao Bay in Hailing Island covers an area of 147000 square meters. The Dajiao Bay is 2.45 kilometers long and 50-60 meters wide. The spiral-shaped bay looks like a huge ox horn, so it is named “Dajiao Bay”.
The seawater in Dajiao Bay is blue and the sand is clean. It can be used for sunbathing, seawater bathing, and sand bathing. Backed by green mountains and green mountains, The Bay is famous for sunshine, beaches, waves, and seafood. It is the most famous scenic spot on Hailing Island. This “Dajiao Bay” scenic spot and Baoyue Bay 抱月湾 are called “Sister Bay 姐妹湾”.
Mawei Island is located at the southwest end of Zhapo Town, Hailing Island, Yangjiang City. It is connected to the mountains of Zhapo Town. The coastline is winding with many bays. The Changsha ring is 1km, surrounded by the sea on three sides. It is actually a peninsula and a natural coastal beach scenic spot.
The island is covered with trees, and along the winding path, there are huge rocks on the beach, either round and flat, or abrupt and precipitous, with tigers crouching and lions standing up in strange shapes. There are beach volleyball, football, beach umbrella, beach horse racing, camel beach tour, laser shooting, and other sports facilities on the island.
The island was developed in 1987. In 2005, it received 60000 tourists. The total area is 1.3 square kilometers, the beach is about 1.25 kilometers long, the water depth is moderate, the sea floor is gentle, and the sand quality is good, so it is called the “big bathtub”. The island is rich in forest vegetation, with strange rocks all over it, insects chirping and butterflies flying. The tree-lined paths are winding and retain a strong original flavor. The mountain is carved by the waves for thousands of years, forming strange landscapes such as riprap beaches, sea erosion beaches, and a line of sky.
This Bay is an ancient town mainly engaged in fishing. Every morning, when the dock returns to the shore, there will be a lot of excitement here. Tourists can enjoy all kinds of fresh seafood at the stalls here, and also taste delicious food here. The “Seafood Street”, which focuses on Renmin Road, has a variety of seafood and handicrafts, as well as Yangjiang’s specialty lobster sauce, knives, lacquerware, etc.
The main hall of Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum 海上丝绸之路博物馆, covering an area of about 130000 square meters and a building area of nearly 20000 square meters, is the world’s first underwater archaeology museum themed-on the excavation, protection, display, and research of the Song Dynasty ancient sunken ship “Nanhai I”, which shows the dynamic demonstration process of underwater archaeological site excavation. It is a national secondary museum, a national AAAA-level scenic spot, and the only large-scale underwater archaeology museum in Asia.
The Silk Road Ship Charm has such landscapes as the Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum, the Song Dynasty style ancient ship, the millennium ancient camphor tree, and the Oriental Sightseeing. The ancient sunken ship “Nanhai I” of the Southern Song Dynasty more than 800 years ago was salvaged in December 2007 as a whole and entered the “Crystal Palace” of the Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum. It is an ancient ocean trading merchant ship with the earliest known age, the largest hull, the largest total number of cultural relics (60000 to 80000 pieces), and the most complete preservation found in the world.
