Brief Introduction
Zhongshan 中山 is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, one of the four prefecture-level cities without districts in China, one of the central cities in the Pearl River Delta珠三角, an important node city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area粤港澳大湾区, one of the regional central cities in Guangdong, and one of the metropolitan cities on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary.
Zhongshan, the hometown of Dr. Sun Yat-sen 孙中山, is located in the west of the central part of the Pearl River Delta and at the sea of the lower reaches of the Beijiang River. It borders Nansha District of Guangzhou city and Shunde District of Foshan City in the north, Jiangmen downtown, Xinhui District and Doumen District of Zhuhai City in the west, Zhuhai City in the southeast, and Shenzhen City and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region across the Lingdingyang Of the Pearl River Estuary in the east.
Zhongshan is one of the birthplaces of Cantonese cuisine 广府粤菜 and one of the representative cities of Cantonese culture 广府文化. Xiangshan culture 香山文化 originated in Zhongshan and is an important source of Modern Chinese culture. Zhongshan is a national historical and cultural city and enjoys the reputation of being the hometown of Cantonese opera and overseas Chinese in Guangdong Province.
