
2025 Wuhan Polytechnic University Admission Guide for Undergraduate Students
Wuhan Polytechnic University (WPU), established in 1951, is located in Wuhan, Hubei Province, a major transportation hub known as the “Thoroughfare of Nine Provinces.” WPU is jointly administered by the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration and the People’s Government of Hubei Province. It is recognized as one of the key universities in Hubei’s “First-Class Discipline Development Plan” and among the province’s first batch of undergraduate admission institutions.
The university has two campuses—Changqing Campus and Jinyinhu Campus—covering a total area of 1 million square meters. WPU hosts over 22,000 full-time undergraduate and graduate students, with 17 schools and departments, including an International Education College. The total building area reaches 600,000 square meters.
WPU embraces internationalization and has established academic partnerships with over 100 universities, research institutions, and professional organizations from more than 20 countries, including the USA, UK, Germany, Canada, France, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, India, South Africa, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia.
The university actively promotes international education through joint academic programs, international forums, and the enrollment of international students in undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs, especially in support of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

I. Available Major for International Students
Bachelor’s Degree in International Economics and Trade
- Duration: 4 years
- Language of Instruction: Chinese and English
This program is designed to cultivate international professionals with a strong academic foundation, high practical competence, well-rounded qualities, and innovative thinking. Students who meet graduation and degree requirements will be awarded a Bachelor’s Degree Certificate and a Graduation Certificate.
II. Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be aged 18 to 25 (as of September 1, 2025)
- Be in good physical and mental health
- Hold a high school diploma or higher education background
- Be non-Chinese citizens with a valid foreign passport, friendly toward China, with no criminal record
- Comply with relevant provisions of China’s Nationality Law
III. Required Application Documents
- Wuhan Polytechnic University International Student Application Form (with a recent 2-inch color ID photo)
- High school graduation certificate (original or scanned copy)
- Academic transcripts from high school or higher education (original or scanned copy)
- Passport information page (valid for at least six months)
- Financial guarantee letter
- Study performance report from previous Chinese institutions (if applicable)
- Certificate of no criminal record
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form
- Certificates of awards or other supporting documents (if available)

IV. Application Process
Step 1: Online Application
- Application Period: April 20, 2025 – August 15, 2025
- Submit documents on the WPU International Student Admission Portal: whpu.at0086.cn/Student
Step 2: Document Review
The International Office (International Education College) will review the completeness and authenticity of the submitted materials and upload them to the Study in China system. Preliminary approval will be conducted by the Wuhan Exit-Entry Administration Bureau.
Step 3: Comprehensive Evaluation
Qualified applicants will undergo an online or in-person interview evaluating overall quality, language proficiency, learning ability, health status, and financial situation. A written test may be required if necessary.
Step 4: Pre-Admission
After approval by the Provincial Department of Education, WPU will issue a Pre-admission Notice and submit materials to the Foreign Affairs Office for final verification.
Step 5: Official Admission
Upon final approval, WPU will issue the Admission Notice and JW202 Visa Application Form for Study in China.
Step 6: Visa Application
With the Admission Notice and JW202 Form, applicants should apply for a student visa (X1) at a Chinese Embassy or the Wuhan Exit-Entry Administration Department.
Step 7: Registration on Campus
- Registration Date: September 15, 2025
- Students must register at the university on time. Those who fail to register within 7 days without valid reason will forfeit their admission.
Documents Required at Registration:
- Admission Notice
- Original high school diploma and transcripts
- Four recent 2-inch color ID photos
- Valid commercial health insurance policy
- Medical examination certificate
Note:
- All submitted documents will not be returned.
- Applicants are responsible for the authenticity of their documents.
- Applications with incomplete or fraudulent documents will be rejected.

V. Tuition and Fees (in RMB)

- Basic requirements include:
