Nanjing University (NJU) offers undergraduate, master, and doctoral programs for international students. As a C9 League member ranked #141 globally (QS 2026), NJU is particularly strong in the natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences.
Undergraduate Programs
Important note: All undergraduate programs at NJU are taught in Chinese. Applicants must have HSK Level 5 with a minimum score of 180. Exceptions: students from Malaysia and Singapore who have completed 12 years of Chinese-medium education may be exempted. The minimum age is 18 years.
Tuition fees per academic year (2026):
- Liberal Arts programs: 21,000 CNY/year
- Science, Engineering, and Business programs: 24,000 CNY/year
- Software Engineering: 32,000 CNY/year
- Medical programs: 42,000 CNY/year
Application fee: 500 CNY (nonrefundable)
Optional standardized tests accepted: A-Level, AP, ACT, IB, SAT, AST (valid for 2 years)
Additional requirements for specific programs:
- English major: IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 70+
- Architecture: Must submit portfolio demonstrating skills/knowledge

Graduate Programs (Master and PhD)
NJU offers master and PhD programs across all academic disciplines. Many graduate programs are available in English, making them accessible to international students without Chinese proficiency. Graduate programs are typically 2-3 years for master degrees and 3-5 years for doctoral degrees.
Tuition fees for graduate programs: Approximately 30,000-60,000 CNY/year depending on the program and discipline. Exact fees should be confirmed on the official NJU website.

Chinese Language Programs
For students who need to improve their Chinese before starting a degree, NJU offers intensive Chinese language training programs. These programs are available as long-term courses (semester or year-long) and are designed to prepare students for HSK examinations and degree study.

Tuition: Approximately 8,400 CNY per semester
