Du Gongbu Sets is a collection of poems written by Du Fu in the Tang Dynasty 唐朝. This collection is called the name because Du Fu used to work as a member of Gongbu 工部员. It is the peak of realism in Chinese classical poetry. This collection of poems includes more than 1,400 poems and 30 essays. It occupies an important position in the history of Chinese literature as well as the world literature.
There is a patriotic thread running through the work. Du Fu (712-770 AD) was a native of Gongyi 巩义, Henan Province 河南省, originally from Xiangyang 襄阳. He was a great realist poet of the Tang Dynasty, known collectively as “Li Du 李杜” with Li Bai 李白. He was honored as the “Poet Saint 诗圣”.
When Du Fu was young, he lived a relatively stable and affluent life, and he had the opportunity to be influenced by various cultures and arts, which had a great influence on his later poetry creation. He also had visited many places, and Du Fu was full of pride and passion in his youth.
He witnessed the extravagance and social crisis in the upper society of the Tang Dynasty. After the outbreak of An Shi Rebellion 安史之乱, Du Fu moved to many places. In 759, he abandoned his official position and went to Sichuan Province 四川省. Du Fu’s official life was not smooth and his later years were difficult, but he still cared about the country and the people. Du Fu died of illness at the age of fifty-nine.
Du Fu’s fame spread far and wide, and he exerted a profound influence on both Chinese and Japanese literature.
