Shanghai Summer School 2025 – Chinese Traditional Music Program, a Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship program organized by Shanghai Conservatory of Music (SHCM) under the support of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, is scheduled to take place in June 2025. As part of the SHCM’s initiative to promote its international education, this Program is developed based on the Conservatory’s advantages and features, with the aim of offering international students the opportunity to experience Chinese culture.
- Theme
The Shanghai Summer School – Traditional Chinese Music Program has been running successfully since its inception in 2011, with 13 sessions held so far. Built on its previous achievements, the upcoming 2025 edition will invite renowned educators, accomplished performing artists, and talented young teachers in the fields of Chinese music and musicology to present a comprehensive program that integrates teaching, appreciation, and experiential learning.

- Activities
- Chinese Music Workshops: Participants will receive professional instruction in Chinese music and traditional performing techniques through open classes with prestigious educators and training courses by young performers, allowing for rapid progress in their music performance.
- Culture Lectures centered around “The Art of Chinese Music”, “Musical Aesthetics”, and “Chinese Culture” by esteemed scholars.
- Field Trips to major cultural venues such as Shangyin Opera House and He Luting Concert Hall, as well as suburban areas of Shanghai, for participants to experience local cultural life.
- Enrollment Quota
The Shanghai Summer School 2025 — Chinese Traditional Music Program is open to international students and scholars aged between 16 and 50. Participants must benon-Chinese citizens residing outside China. The Program will enroll 20 qualified applicants on a fullscholarship that covers application, tuition, accommodation, activities, and comprehensive insurance fees.
Admission decisions will be made by the organizing committee based on an evaluation of the application materials. The Admission List will be posted on the webpage:https://www.shcmusic.edu.cn/1659/list.htm

- Application Period: November 15, 2024 – February 29, 2025
- Fees: The fees for application, tuition, accommodation, activities, and comprehensive insurance under this Program will be covered by the Scholarship; while meals and all transportation expenses should be borne by the participants themselves.
- How to Apply: Applications should be made online via the website:admission.shcmusic.edu.cn. Please read the attachedOnline Application Instructions carefully before making an application.
- Please upload the following documents for the online application:
- A scanned copy of the photo page of the applicant’s valid passport
- An ID photo and a casual life photo
- Schooling Certificate or Graduation Certificate
- A Curriculum Vitae (in Chinese or English)
- Optional: Audio-visual recording of your performance of one music piece (file size limited to 500MB)
- Special Notes
- Once the application materials have been reviewed, Shanghai Conservatory of Music will send the Admission Letter and Information Form for Foreign Students’ Short-term Visa(DQ) to eligible applicants by post. This is a necessary step to apply for a Student Visa (X2 Visa), which is required for entering China. Therefore, please provide accurate address information and contact number to ensure successful delivery.
- Candidates who have been admitted are required to complete their registration at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music on the designated date, as stated in theAdmission Letter. In case of any delay, please contact the SHCM International Education Division beforehand to seek approval; otherwise, the participant will be deemed to have withdrawn from the program automatically.

上海音乐学院中国民乐项目
招生简章
为了更好地推进上海音乐学院国际化办学进程,上海音乐学院依托上海市教委政策扶持,结合本院特色和学科优势,积极拓展外国留学生中国文化体验项目,于2025年6月举行上海暑期学校—上海音乐学院中国民乐项目。
一、项目主题
从2011年开始,我院已连续举办了十三届“上海暑期学校—上海音乐学院中国民乐项目”活动,取得了很好的效果。本次活动将力邀我院民乐、音乐学等领域德高望重的教育家、表演艺术家及青年教师加盟,为国际学生打造一个集教学、欣赏和体验于一体的全方位综合课程。
二、项目时间及内容安排

项目时间:2025年6月12日——7月4日。

专业指导课程。将邀请上海音乐学院专家教授以公开课的形式为暑期学校学员进行授课,同时由青年表演专业学生为学员进行专业技术练习方法指导,让学员继承传统的表演方式,拓展新的技艺,快速提升造诣。

综合文化课程。暑期学校将邀请著名学者就“中国音乐艺术文化”、“音乐美学”、“中国文化”等主题开设专题讲座。

文化体验课程。暑期学校还将组织全体学员参观上音歌剧院、贺绿汀音乐厅等其他具有代表意义的上海音乐文化场所,以及体验上海周边地区的文化生活。
三、招生名额
本次活动共招收奖学金学员20名。奖学金学员将免报名费、学费、住宿费、活动费及来华人员综合保险费。
本次活动奖学金学员面向中国境外外国学生招生,年龄范围原则上为16周岁至50周岁。
奖学金名单将由活动组委会在收到报名资料后进行评选产生,届时将在我院国际教育学院网页上公布奖学金学员名单:https://www.shcmusic.edu.cn/1659/list.htm

奖学金学员免报名费、学费、住宿费、活动费及来华人员综合保险费;餐费、往来国际、国内旅费自理。 -
报名程序及注意事项:
在线报名:admission.shcmusic.edu.cn,请参考《上海暑期学校中国民乐项目在线报名指南》(详见附件),仔细阅读后再提交申请。 -
需要在申请的附件部分上传的材料:
(1)护照电子扫描件(需贴有照片的一面);
(2)一张证件照和一张生活照;
(3)在读证明或者毕业证书;
(4)个人简历(中文或英文);
(5)演奏资料(如有):1首作品,500MB以内。 -
我院审核确认申请者的报名材料后,将通过电子邮件的形式向申请人发放《录 取通知书》和《短期来华留学生信息表》(DQ表),申请人务必须持学生签证 (X2)入境。请在填写报名表时务必留下可供联系的电子邮箱地址和电话。

申请者要在录取通知书规定的报到日期来校报到。因故不能按期报到者,必须事先征得国际教育学院同意,否则将视为自动放弃。
