Huazhong University of Science and Technology华中科技大学 is a key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education教育部 of the People’s Republic of China, one of the key construction universities of the national ” Project 211″ 211工程and the “Project 985“985工程, and one of the first batch of “double first-class” 双一流construction universities.
Hust grew out of The Shanghai German Medical School上海德文医学堂 established in 1907 by the Huazhong University of Technology华中工学院 in 1952 and the Hubei Technology School 湖北工艺学堂established in 1898.
HUST was founded in 2000 by merging the former HUST前华中理工大学, Tongji Medical University同济医科大学 and Wuhan Institute of Urban Construction武汉城市建设学院.
