HIT/HITSZ – Cradle of Engineers

Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) is recognized as a prominent member of the C9 League and is often referred to as “the cradle of engineers in China.” HIT has established a global reputation, consistently ranking in the top 10 of the US News Ranking for Engineering over several years, and achieving high positions across major global ranking systems. Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen (HITSZ), which was established in 2002 as one of HIT’s three campuses, currently hosts over 12,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. More than 80% of the faculty members have either studied or worked abroad, enabling them to teach proficiently in both English and Chinese, while also fostering a global network of research collaborations. HITSZ currently has over 1,000 international students, hailing from more than 60 countries and regions. The majority of HITSZ graduates pursue careers in high-tech companies and research institutions.

Employment Rate @ HITSZ

lMore than 60% of graduates are employed in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area;

lMore than 70% of the graduates work in Huawei, Tencent, Mindray and other well-known enterprises;

lMore than 100 graduates have founded their own companies, 85% founded in Shenzhen, and 89% being scientific and technological enterprises. Among these alumni enterprises, a number of national-level enterprises have emerged on the new third board and as “unicorn” companies.

nThe master’s program in Business Administration and Applied Economics has a duration of 2 years, while other majors have a duration of 2.5 years. 4 years for doctoral students.

nThe longest length of study for graduate students: 4 years for master’s degree students and 6 years for doctoral students.

nHITSZ can adjust the selected majors and study duration according to the applicant’s educational background and study plan in Master Program.

nHITSZ can adjust the selected majors and study duration according to the admission situation of popular majors(Computer Technology,Business Administration,Applied Economics) in Master Program.

nIf your “Second Choice” remains the same as the first one and the major is fully admitted, you will largely be rejected by us in Master Program.

lWho Can Apply?

nCitizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China complying with the relevant regulations set by Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC;

nApplicants for master programs should be Bachelor degree holder and under the age of 35;

nApplicants for PhD programs should be Master degree holder and under the age of 40;

nIn good health both mentally and physically.

lWhen to Apply?

nApplication Opens: December, 9^th, 2024;

nDeadline for Application: May, 20th, 2025.

lApplication Materials

All application documents in other languages than English or Chinese must be notarized in English or Chinese. All documents shall be submitted online:

nPassport home page（MUST Valid beyond September 30^th, 2025）;

nBachelor/Master degree certificate(the expected graduation certificate can be acceptable,but the original graduation certificate must be submitted at the time of registration);

nOfficial transcripts;

nA study plan at least 1,000 words;

n2 recommendation letters from professors or associate professors;

nCurriculum Vitae;

nLanguage proficiency certificates:

uTOEFL≥80, IELTS≥ 6.0 or Duolingo English Test ≥ 90;

uUniversity Statement for program instruction language if their previous degree is from English-taught programs in non-English speaking countries;

uNo certificates when applicant’s first language is English or their previous degree is from universities in English speaking countries;

nA photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (usually issued within 6 months before the application submission date);

nNon-criminal record report (usually issued within six months before the application submission date);

nBank Statement (at least CNY 30,000 or equivalent foreign currency);

nPayment receipt of application fee (Screen Shot);

nProof of outstanding academic achievements, sports, art, cultural exchanges, public welfare activities, etc. (not mandatory).

lHow to Apply?

nStep 1: Login online application at hitsz.at0086.cn/student (by computer) or hitsz.at0086.cn/mobile/student (by cellphone), fill in required application information and upload application materials;Please be sure to fill in the applicant’s personal email to ensure timely receipt of relevant notifications;

nStep 2: Pay application fee of CNY 400/ USD 60 (Non-refundable once applied).There are two ways to pay. You can use either way to make the payment. Prefer Wechat Payment.

        (2) Bank transfer to the HITSZ university account. Remittance Information is as follow：

nStep 3: Upload application fee payment receipt and submit application online.

nStep 4: Keep track of admission result. Admission Notice from HITSZ will be issued to Qualified applications after their successfully submission.

 lFees

*Notes:  1. Dormitory check-in procedures is after university registration;

2. The dormitory fees are not including Utility and WI–FI fees.

3. University dormitory is for students to live in only. And the number of room types is limited. First come, first served. Please book online as soon as possible after being admitted, and arrangements will be made based on the student’s booking situation.

        4. According to relevant regulations in China, international students should be covered by designated insurance during their study and stay in China.

lScholarships

*Note:

1. Both Guangdong Government Outstanding International Students Scholarship and Shenzhen Universiade International Scholarship are one-year scholarship with limited quota. Shenzhen Universiade International Scholarship will be determined in April to May each year and Guangdong Government Outstanding International Students Scholarship will be determined in June to August  with off-line application procedures. Students can apply one of these scholarship with HITSZ Scholarship.

2. HITSZ Entrance Scholarship will be applied and determined during online application; Scholarship status will be reviewed according to students’ performance at the end of the first academic year.
