Brief introduction of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China

The University of Electronic Science and Technology of China is located in Chengdu成都, Sichuan四川 province, formerly known as Chengdu Institute of Telecommunications Engineering. It was established in September 1956.

Under the personal deployment of premier Zhou Enlai周恩来, it was the first radio university in New China, which was established by the merger of the department of telecommunications engineering of Jiaotong University, the department of telecommunications of South China Institute of Technology, and the department of radio of Nanjing Institute of technology.

In 1960, it was listed as a national key higher education institution.

In 1961, it was transferred to the National Defense Science and Technology Commission of the Ministry of National Defense and identified as one of the seven national defense industrial colleges.

In 1988, it was renamed as University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.

In 1997, it was identified as the first batch of key universities for the construction of the “Project 211” in China.

In 1998, Chengdu Metallurgical Cadre Management College, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Metallurgy, was merged into the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.

After more than 60 years of construction, the university has formed a multi-level and multi-type talent training pattern from undergraduate to master’s and doctoral students. It has become a multidisciplinary research university with complete coverage of the whole electronic information discipline, with electronic information science and technology as the core major, focusing on engineering, penetration of science and engineering, and coordinated development of science, engineering, management, culture, and medicine.
