Brief Introduction of South China University of Technology

The South China University of Technology has a long history and can be traced back to the first-class industrial school established in Guangdong Province广东省立第一甲种工业学校 in 1918.

In 1952, the South China University of Technology (formerly South China Institute of Technology前华南工学院) was officially established.

In 1960, it became a national key university.

In 1981, the South China University of Technology was approved by the State Council as the first batch of doctoral and master’s degree awarding units.

In 1995, it entered the ranks of “Project 211”.

In 2001, it entered the ranks of “Project 985”.

In 2017, the South China University of Technology entered the ranks of “double first-class” universities.

The South China University of Technology is located in Guangzhou, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, the campus is divided into three parts. It is the first unit to obtain the award of “National Civilized Campus”. Nowadays, the South China University of Technology has developed into a comprehensive research university with expertise in engineering, the combination of science, engineering, and medicine, and the coordinated development of management, economics, literature, law, and other disciplines.

School History Museum

The history museum of the South China University of Technology is located on the east and west sides of the first floor of the Liwu励吾 science and technology building in the Wushan五山 campus. It is divided into two halls. The first hall mainly shows the history from the establishment of the University in 1952 to 1978, and the second hall mainly shows the history from 1978 to now, with a total construction area of about 500 square meters.

The school history museum was firstly built in 2008 and officially opened on the eve of the school anniversary in November of that year. Led by the publicity department, it has jointly completed the construction of the school history museum with the development planning office, archives, academic affairs office, Youth League Committee, international exchange and cooperation office, student work office, and other departments.

It was handed over to the archives in 2009, and the archives are responsible for the daily management of the premises, visit reception and explanation, content update, and other work. In 2010, 2012, and 2015, it carried out information updates, supplemented physical objects and equipment, and replacement of some display boards three times, and reached the peak of information update in 2018. In 2018, a total of 12072 people visited the school history museum, campus cultural landscape.

Since its establishment, the university has trained 560000 students of all kinds in higher education for the country.
