Eligibility
1. Non-Chinese citizen, foreign passport holder, in good physical and mental health, with senior high school diploma.
2. According to Nationality Law of the People’s Republic of China and the regulations released by Ministry of Education of the PRC [Circular No. 12 (2020)], if an applicant was born in a foreign country and one or both of the applicant’s parents hold Chinese citizenship (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), the applicant shall have Chinese citizenship; however, if the applicant’s parents who hold Chinese citizenship (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) had acquired permanent residence of the foreign country before the applicant’s birth, the applicant shall not have Chinese citizenship. If an applicant wants to apply as an international student, the applicant must have held a valid foreign passport or certificate of nationality before May 1, 2021. In addition, the applicant must have lived outside Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan for at least two years during the period between May 1, 2021 and April 30, 2025 (subject to the entry and exit record, if the applicant has stayed outside Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan for nine months or longer period during one year, it is equivalent to one year).
Emigrants from Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan applying as international students must have held a valid foreign passport or certificate of nationality before May 1, 2021. In addition, the applicant must have lived outside Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan for at least two years during the period between May 1, 2021 and April 30, 2025 (subject to the entry and exit record, if the applicant has stayed outside Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan for nine months or longer period during one year, it is equivalent to one year).
3. Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old.
4. Excellent academic performance in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology, reach the requirement of admission (no entrance examination).
Application Method
Applications materials must be submitted in color on the International Students application system.
Application Materials
1. Scanned copy of passport (within over 6 months valid period), all the passport information pages from 2021/5/1 to 2025/4/30.
2.1 Scanned copies of senior high school graduation certificate. Students who have not graduated by the time of application are required to provide an official letter from your school stating the expected graduation date.
2.2 Scanned copy of transcripts, including all courses taken (original or notarized copy, with notarized Chinese or English translation, if original not in Chinese or English).
3. Original or notarized copy of following English language test result: ILETS over 6.0, each part over 5.0; TOEFL over 75, each part over 15; CAE over 170 (only for applicants whose native language is not English), students from high school with major courses taught in English (such as IB and A-LEVEL) can be waived of the English language test.
4. Personal statement in English with signature.
5. Scanned copy of over 100,000 RMB or other equivalent currency financial support certificate issued in one month (such as bank certificate of deposit and etc.).
6. Scanned copy of Health Examination Record Form for Foreigners in 6 months (required stamp from public hospital, form see attachment).
7. Statement of non-criminal record (the place lived in recent 4 years).
8. Scanned copy of Award certificates or other supportive materials.
9. Scanned copy of Bank transfer certificate copy of application fee (please check official website for transfer account).
10.1 Applicants who were born in a foreign country and have acquired foreign citizenship at birth, should provide documents to prove that one or both of the applicant’s parents have acquired permanent residence of the country before the applicant’s birth. Applicants who used to hold Chinese travel documents or passes should provide documentation of cancellation/rescission of their Chinese citizenship. Applicants who have emigrated from Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan and have acquired foreign citizenship should also provide documentation of cancellation/rescission of their Chinese citizenship.
10.2 If the applicant has ever visited or lived in Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan, the applicant should submit entry and exit records and relevant visa or residence permit from May 1, 2021 (inclusive) upon application.
11. Applicants who are under 18 years old by September 1, 2025, must submit a Guarantee Statement (see attachment).
12. Other supplementary materials required by the school.
Note: ①If documents are not in English or Chinese, they must be translated by an authorized agency. Both original and translated documents must be submitted. ②Application fee and materials are non-refundable.
Admission
1. The admission decision is based on a comprehensive evaluation of application materials. Pre-admission will be announced on the application system.
2. Students should then pay tuition and confirm the enrollment in the next two weeks after received pre-admission letter.
3. The admission package will be sent to the admitted applicants at the July.
4. Original application materials will be checked at the term begins. The school has the right to cancel the admission if there is any violation.

1. Registration fee: CNY 800
2. Tuition: CNY 75,000/Year
3. Accommodation: Double room CNY 21-40/Day/Per person
4. The group comprehensive insurance: CNY 800/Year
Accommodation
SJTUSM provides different types of on-campus dormitories. The equipment and facilities in dormitory vary among room types and buildings; however, air-conditioner, self-laundry, basic furniture and internet access service are provided in all rooms and buildings. On-campus dormitory should be booked at the very beginning of the designated time. Off-campus accommodation can be rent by the students themselves.
