I. About us

Pu’ er University is located in Pu’ er City in Yunnan Province, a city known as the“Cradle of World’s Teas’’ and “China’s Coffee Capital”. Pu’ er City is home to 14 long-dwelling ethnic groups and the neighbor of three ASEAN countries (Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam). Lancang-Mekong River drains through the city and connects it with five ASEAN nations (Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam). Pu’ er University was founded in 1978 and was upgraded to a provincial-level public undergraduate university with the approval of the Ministry of Education of PRC in March 2012. In January 2022, it was certified in the qualification evaluation of undergraduate teaching by the Ministry of Education of PRC. It is a demonstration university of training application-oriented talents and is one project of national universities construction. In 2022, Pu’er University passed smoothly the quality inspection and evaluation of education for international students in China organized by China Education Association for International Exchange.

Covering an area of 136.8 hectares and a floorage of 304000 square meters, the total value of our fixed assets is up to 719 million yuan, and the instrument value of teaching and research equipment reaches 107 million yuan. Our library hosts 1.141 million volumes of paper books;1.45 million volumes of digital resources,including 270,000 e-books.There are 197 off-campus and 105 on-campus experiment and training bases, including Exhibition Hall of Selected Pu’ er Reduction Woodcut Prints, Biodiversity Science Museum, State Entrepreneurship Practice Base under the “Belt and Road Initiative”, Mandarin Testing Center, etc. Among them, there are four provincial-level experiment and training platforms. For years, our practice and training conditions for training application-oriented talents has improved steadily.

Pu’er University adheres to implement the strategy of strengthening the university with talents, and make efforts to introduce and train high-level talents and enhance the construction of teachers’ ethics and manners. Both the quantity and quality of our teaching staff have been promoted. Currently, there are 724 teachers on duty in our university, including 207 with senior title and 42 with Doctor’s Degree. More than 30 of our staff possess various titles, listed among National High-level Talent Program, Thriving Yunnan Talent Program,Young and Middle-Aged Academic and Technical Foregoers, etc; and 190 are certified as Double Professionally-Titled Teachers. The quality of our teaching staff construction has been continuously improved.

Relying on geographical advantages, Pu’er University strongly promotes open education, and has and established cooperative relations with more than twenty famous universities and scientific research institutes, such as Capital University of Economics and Business, Yunnan University, Minzu University of China, Yunnan Minzu University, Hunan Agricultural University, Guangdong University of Finance & Economics，Southwest University of Political Science & Law, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Kunming branch of China Academy of Science, Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of China Academy of Science, etc. The university cooperates with these universities and institutions to train international students at Master’s and Doctoral levels.

II. Admission Category

1. Degree program

Full-time program in Bachelor’s Degree, four-year length of schooling

1. Non-degree program

   Chinese preparatory education, one-year length of schooling.

IV. Application Eligibility

1. Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens with good conduct and with no criminal records ans shall be in good health both physically and psychologically, friendly to China and abide by the law of the People’s Republic of China and the discipline and regulations of Pu’er University;

2.Applicants  should hold a graduation certificate of senior-high school or above , aged 18-40 years.

3. Applicants for bachelor’s degree shall hold the certificate of HSK4 or above.

V. Types of Enrollment

1. Students supported by Yunnan Provincial Government Scholarship

International students who apply for “Yunnan Provincial Government Scholarship” are required to apply in accordance with the conditions of the Yunnan Provincial Government Scholarship Administration Regulations.

Those students who are qualified will enjoy free tuition fees, accommodation fees and insurance. The unmentioned expenses are at the student’s own expense.

2. Pu’er Municipal Government Scholarship

International students who apply for “Pu’er Municipal Government Scholarship” should apply to the Provincial Department of Education and Department of Sports; students from Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, The People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Malaysia should apply directly to the country’s Consulate in Kunming respectively. Students from Indonesia should apply to Pu’er University.

Those students who are qualified will enjoy free tuition fees, accommodation fees on campus and textbook fees. The unmentioned expenses are at student’s own expense.

3. Simao District Government Scholarship

Lao students in Phôngsali county in Phôngsali province can apply for “Simao District Government Scholarship” and shall apply directly to the Education and Sport Bureau in Phôngsali county.

Students who are qualified will enjoy free tuition fees, accommodation fees on campus and textbook fees. The unmentioned expenses are at the student’s own expense.

4. Pu’er University Scholarship

Students who apply for “Pu’er University Scholarship” shall apply to Pu’er University.

International students who are qualified will enjoy free tuition fees and accommodation fees on campus. The unmentioned expenses are at the student’s own expense.

5. Self-financed students

In 2024, Pu’er University plans to enroll international self-financed students from South Asian and Southeast Asian countries. All the fees are at the student’s own expense.

Applicants should apply to Pu’er University.

Charge standards:

Student in Chinese preparatory education, total tuition and accommodation fees is 20,000 RMB/year/person.

Undergraduate student, total tuition and accommodation fees is 24,000 yuan/year/person.

International students from financially strapped families in Southeast Asian countries can enjoy preferential tuition fees according to Pu’er University’s regulations, and their standards are as follow:

Student in Chinese preparatory education: 5,000 RMB/academic year/person Undergraduate student: 6,5000 RMB/academic year/person.

VI. Application Process

1. Sending Required Materials to the specified mailbox

(1) Scanned copies of notarized senior middle school diploma and transcripts either in Chinese or English;

(2) Scanned copies of notarized senior middle school transcripts either in Chinese or English;

(3) Scanned copies of Physical Examination Record by county-level or above public hospitals;

(4) Scanned copy of valid passport（must be valid for at least six months）;

(5) Financial support guarantee statement issued by banks or Immigration Office （compulsory for self-financed students）;

(6) Scanned copies of HSK4 certificate or above (compulsory for bachelor’s degree applicants );

(7) Scanned copy of Non-criminal Certificate issued by authorities;

(8) Colored identification photo with white background; Close up your head and top up your shoulders so that your face takes up 70-80% of the photograph; size is not

less than 320*240 pixels with 4:3 aspect ratio; size for the electronic edition is 100-500 KB in JPG format named after the passport number. (Unqualified photograph will not pass the qualification examination. Please follow the requirements strictly );

(9) The application form (Please see attachment 1, and fill in the form; Please save the electronic form named after the full name of applicant);

(10) Letter of commitment should be signed with signature and fingerprint;(Please see attachment 2. The letter should be printed out and then signed with fingerprint)

The deadline for submission of materials: August 10^th, 2024. Please scan the materials mentioned above as attachments, and send to the mailbox. 2. Qualification Examination

The Office of International Cooperation and Exchange is responsible for examining and verifying application materials of international students.

VII. Admission Decision and Register

1.Pu’er University shall mail JW202 forms and admission notices to the qualified applicants.

2. Students who are admitted shall apply for X1 Visa in time and come to register to Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Pu’er University with all the original application materials and admission documents on the dates specified in the admission notices.

3. Students who fail to register over two weeks after the deadline without any explanation are considered as abandoning admission qualifications to Pu’er University.
