1. Ningbo University

Ningbo University is a key university of Zhejiang, China and one of the universities in the country’s “Shuang Yi Liu” (“Double First-Class”) Initiative, enjoying the joint support from the provincial government of Zhejiang, the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Ningbo Municipality, as well as from the State Oceanic Administration and Ningbo Municipality.

Ningbo University is structured into 23 schools and consists of 13 primary doctoral programs, 1 professional doctoral program, 32 primary master programs, 31 professional master’s programs, 9 post-doctoral research stations and 59 undergraduate programs, 19 of which have been accredited by authoritative domestic or international organizations. According to ESI (Essential Science Indicators), NBU’s 13 disciplines have ranked 1% in the world.

Ningbo University attaches great importance to its internationalization strategy and adheres to an open approach to education. So far, Ningbo University has established cooperation and exchanges with over 100 foreign universities and research institutions, and has been selected as one of the first batch of construction bases for “Internationalized Characteristic Universities in Zhejiang Province” and the Ningbo International Cultural Exchange Base. Resources for on-campus housing are limited and advance application is required. Should there be any change in the above content, the final interpretation from the international college of Ningbo University shall prevail.

4.Admission Requirements

4.1 Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and valid foreign passport holders.

4.2 Under the age of 25 for Bachelor programs. Applicants must have graduated from high school (Those who provide pre-graduation certificate or student status certificate at application MUST provide, the graduation certificate no later than registration).

Under the age of 35 for master’s degree programs and under the age of 40 for doctoral degree programs (Age limit is flexible for healthy applicants with certain work experience and high academic ability). Applicants must be Bachelor’s degree holders (Those who provide pre-graduation certificate or student status certificate at application MUST provide Bachelor’s degree diploma no later than registration).

4.3 With proper moral conduct, in good health with no infectious disease or any physical or mental diseases that may affect the normal study.

4.4 Requirements of the regulations set in the Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC should be met.

Ø Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship (including residents in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) and become foreign citizens, must acquire foreign citizenship before April 30, 2021, and must have lived abroad more than 2 years from April 30, 2021 to April 30, 2025 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year, taking entry and exit stamps as evidence).

Ø If the applicant has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents were both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents was a Chinese citizen, parent’s (with Chinese citizenship) permanent resident in foreign country should be obtained prior to the birth of the applicant. Applicants must have lived abroad more than 2 years from April 30, 2021 to April 30, 2025 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year, taking entry and exit stamps as evidence).

Note: If the applicant is concluded to have Chinese citizenship by the Chinese public security department after application, admission or enrollment, the applicant will be disqualified from application, admission or enrollment or withdrawal from school will be required.

4.5 Language Proficiency

Ø Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must have HSK certificate. Applicants whose compulsory courses were taught in Chinese during secondary education (junior and senior high school) can be exempt from submitting HSK certificate.

Ø There are no Chinese language proficiency requirements for the applicants of English-taught programs. If applicants’ native language is not English, they should provide score report of English language test (e.g. TOEFL/IELTS/OTHER).

5. Admission Procedure

5.1 Online Application

Ø Create your account in the Online Application System (http://icnbu.nbu.edu.cn/).

Ø Complete the application form during the application periods.

Ø Upload the documents as required.

Ø Pay the application fee.

5.2 Comprehensive Evaluation

Ø Application Review

Applications submitted with all the information correct and completed will be evaluated by International College of Ningbo University.

Ø Faculty Review

Applicants who have passed the Application Review will be forwarded to respective faculties for further review, in which interview may be conducted for certain programs. If interview required, detailed information will be informed in advance.

5.3 Admission Decision and Offer

Ø The admission decision is based on a comprehensive evaluation of academic performance, language proficiency, supporting materials as well as interview. Applicants can log on the Online Application System to track the admission process.

Ø Applicants who receive the Pre-Admission Notice should prepay the first-year tuition fee on the Online Application System within the specific time period stated on the Notice.

Ø Admission Notice can be downloaded from the Online Application System. Download link of the electronic Confirmation Form for Study in China（for visa）will be sent to the permanent email address filled in the application system by the applicant.
