Introduction to Minjiang University
Minjiang University is based in Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian Province. In 2002, with the approval from the Ministry of Education, Minjiang University began to offer full-time bachelor’s degree programs. Minjiang University is an amalgamation of Fuzhou Teachers’ College, established in 1958, and Minjiang Vocational College, established in 1984 (including Fuzhou Academy of Arts and Design merged in 2001). In 2010, Fujian Conservatory of Music, founded by patriotic overseas Chinese Mr. CAI Jikun, merged into Minjiang University.
Minjiang University has a glorious past. Presient Xi Jinping once served as the President of Minjiang Vocational College for 6 years (June 1990 – May 1996) when he took the position as the Secretary of the CPC Fuzhou Municipal Committee. During his tenure, he propounded the philosophy of “seeking to be the best instead of the biggest, and to adapt to the needs of society” and the principles of building a locally based and market-oriented institution with a focus on quality and practicability of education.
After more than 60 years of development, Minjiang University has grown into an influential application-oriented university with a complete disciplines and satisfactory education quality. It has 15 colleges that offer a MBA program and bachelor’s degree programs in all the eight major disciplines, covering economics, law, liberal arts, history, science, engineering, management and art.
Minjiang University currently enrolls about 16,000 full-time students, with a faculty of more than 1,000, among which 45.23% hold a doctorate degree.
Minjiang University has a total area of 2,294.6 mu, with 621,100㎡of building area. The University owns 575 million Yuan’s worth of equipment for teaching and research, 2.0802 million paper-based books and 2.2613 million e-books.
Minjiang University insists on running in an open-up way. Minajing University establishes friendly cooperation with more than 40 universities in the United States,Japan, Australia, Canada and other countries; works with European University Cyprus to establish the International Digital Economy College of Minjiang University, a Sino-foreign cooperative institution.
I. Application Requirements
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens between the ages of 18 and 30 (by September 1st, 2024) ,in good health, and hold a valid ordinary foreign passport.
Note: According to Article 5 of the Nationality Law of the People’s Republic of China, if both or one of the parents are Chinese citizens and have settled in a foreign country, and the person has foreign nationality at birth, he does not have Chinese nationality. Starting from 2021, if they apply to enter our university as international students to study at the undergraduate level, in addition to meeting other application qualifications of the university, they should also hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for more than 4 years (inclusive), and in the most recent 4 years ( As of April 30 of the year of enrollment), there is a record of actually living in a foreign country for more than 2 years (the actual living in a foreign country for 9 months in a year can be counted as one year, and the entry and exit stamps shall be based on).
2.Applicants must have high school diploma and good grades.(higher than 75/B/Good);
3.Applicants must have Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 5 or above or equivalent or HSK Level 4 but pass the language test of Minjiang University. High school graduates who are mainly taught in Chinese during their secondary school days can apply for exemption of HSK certificate when applying for undergraduate programs, and provide relevant supporting documents.
4.Applicants must have recommendation letters from the highest educational institution the applicant studied at.

III. Application Procedure
Visit the Minjiang University International Students Admission System (http://mju.liuguanbao.com), and apply according to the introduction of the “How to Apply” module in the system interface.
IV. Application Materials
1. Photocopy of International Students Admission Application Form (which can be completed in Chinese or English and signed electronically);
2. An electronic personal photo (which should be uploaded as required by the Minjiang University International Students Admission System);
3. Photocopy of personal ordinary passport (an ordinary passport with at least three years of validity remaining);
4. Photocopy of Health Certificate (physical examination) (which should be uploaded as required by the Minjiang University International Students Admission System);
5. Photocopy of the highest degree certificate (at least high school) (notarized in Chinese or English);
6. Photocopy of all highest degree transcripts (at least high school) (notarized in Chinese or English);
7. Photocopy of Certificate of No Criminal Conviction (which should be uploaded as required by the Minjiang University International Students Admission System);
8. Photocopy of economic assurance materials (bank statements of immediate family members for the past six months);
9. Photocopy of HSK Certificate (which should be uploaded as required by the Minjiang University International Students Admission System);
10. Photocopy of a Letter of Recommendation (which should be issued by the highest educational institution the applicant studied at);
11. Personal statements (include statements in English or Chinese of impressions of China and Minjiang University, education and work experience and research plans related to the applied program, and relevant academic research outcomes or publications, if any);
Please upload all the above documents in the Minjiang University International Students Admission System as required, keep the paper copies in the above order and submit them for review when enrolled at the university. Students with inaccurate or missing application materials will not be accepted. The above documents will not be returned, regardless of whether the student is accepted or not.

VI. Admission and Enrollment
We will make a preliminary review on the application materials provided by applicants, interview applicants who have passed the preliminary review, prepare a list of students proposed to be admitted based on the application materials and interview results, and submit the list to the responsible unit for approval.
VII. Educational System and Degree Awarding
Educational system: 4 years; Length of schooling: 4-6 years;
Students are required to accomplish the credits required by the teaching plan, complete the dissertations (project) and pass the defense successfully. Students who fulfill the graduation requirements will be qualified to graduate and awarded the undergraduate diploma, and students who meet the bachelor’s requirements will be conferred with Bachelor’s Degree.
VIII. Charging Standard
1. Tuition:
Liberal Arts&Economics: RMB 14,000/academic year;
Engineering: RMB 15,500/academic year;
2. Accommodation fee:
RMB 2,600/academic year for a double room (with a private bathroom, an air conditioner, a water heater, etc.);
3. Other fees:
After arriving at our university, students need to pay such fees as campus card deposit, medical examination fee and residence permit fee. The specific fees are subject to the actual prices;
4. Living cost: Living costs are to be borne by students themselves.
IX. Scholarship
1. Fujian Provincial People’s Government has set up the International Student Scholarship Program(30,000 RMB per year), which includes tuition, accommodation fees and living allowance (the duration of scholarship is 1 year). For students of Liberal Arts or Economics, the living allowance is 1,260 RMB/ month; For students of Sciences, the living allowance is 1,110RMB/ month. The living allowance will be given for 10 months every year. Applicants can submit a written application to their respective colleges. We will select the candidates for scholarship from the applicants on merit and submit to the Education Department of Fujian Province for final review.
2. Minjiang Unviersity has established scholarship for international students who are not enrolled in Fujian Provincial People’s Government International Student Scholarship Program, including tuition, accommodation fees and living allowance. The living allowance is divided into three levels, which will be assessed according to the level of HSK. Those who pass HSK5 and 6 will receive the first-class living allowance of 1,000 RMB/ month; those who pass HSK4 will receive the second-class living allowance of 900 RMB/ month, and those who pass the other levels will receive the third-class living allowance of 800 RMB/ month. It is distributed for 10 months a year. After completion of admission procedures and payment of relevant fees every academic year, students can submit a written application to their respective colleges, and the scholarship will be offered after approval of the university.
3.If the above scholarship recipients violates the laws and regulations of China, or the rules and discipline of our university, we will terminate their eligibility for scholarships or suspend part of the scholarships according to the relevant provisions of Interim Measures for the Management of Scholarships for International Students (Undergraduate) of Minjiang University.
