Discipline Introduction
The Institute of Educational Economics and Administration is affiliated to School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) at the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB). Its predecessor was the Institute of Higher Education, established in the 1980s. In 1991, the institute was granted a master’s degree in Educational Economics and Administration. In 2014, the Chinese-taught Master’s program in Educational Economics and Administration for international students began to enroll. In 2017, Master Degree of Public Administration (Educational Economics and Administration) in English-taught program began to enroll.
Public administration is a discipline that studies the laws of public organization management activities. Public organizations and non-profit organizations, especially government organizations, are the main research objects of public management. The main research directions include administration, educational economics and administration, public policy, and social security.
Educational economics and administration is a new emerging interdisciplinary subject. It belongs to the category of social sciences and is one of the main research directions under the first-level subject of public administration. It studies the relationship between education and economy and the law of its development, as well as the law of management in the development of education, based on theories and methods of pedagogy, economics, and management.
Training objectives of Master students in Public Administration (Educational Economics and Administration)
This master program is taught entirely in English. With the solid fundamental theories and professional skills in educational management and educational economics, graduates should be qualified to undertake teaching, researching or management work in educational and research institutions, or working in government departments, public service units, and social organizations.
