Gansu University of Chinese Medicine

Gansu University of Chinese Medicine was foundedin1978, formerly known as Gansu College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2015, with the approval of the Ministry of EducationandthePeople’s Government of Gansu Province, it was renamed as GansuUniversity of Chinese Medicine. In 2016, it became a universityjointly established by the People’s Government of GansuProvinceand State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Theuniversity focuses on medical education and covers 6 disciplines ofmedicine, science, engineering, economics, management andeducation. It is the only university of traditional Chinese medicineinNorthwest China with the right to grant doctor’s degrees.

The university currently has 15990 full-time students, including11997undergraduate (college) students, 1993 master’s degreecandidates and 125 doctoral candidates. There are 121 international
students from 18 countries including Russia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan,Yemen, South Korea, Thailand, Laos 、Africa and Nepal. In2017, our university became a qualified institution entrustedbytheChinese government scholarships for international students inChina.

Taking the construction of the “Silk Road Economic Belt”as anopportunity, the university has carried out extensive international cultural exchanges and cooperation, and actively promotedtheexchange and development with western countries. It hasco-established eight “Qihuang College of Traditional ChineseMedicine” and four TCM centers with Russia and other countries, and established friendly and cooperative relationships withuniversities and educational institutions in many countries andregions such as the United States, South Korea, Australia, Russia, France, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Ukraine, Hungary and Taiwan.

Traditional Chinese Medicine
The discipline of Traditional Chinese Medicine was establishedat the beginning of the establishment of the university in1978. In1990, acupuncture and massage received a master’s degreeauthorization. Since then, 10 secondary disciplines have successivelyreceived master’s degree authorization. In 2006, it receivedamaster’s degree authorization in the first-class discipline. Currently, there are 13 master’s training centers. In 2003, it began tojointlytrain doctoral candidates with its peer colleges and universities. InFebruary 2009, it was identified as an authorized disciplineforproject construction units granting newly-added doctor’s degree. In2013, it gained the right to grant a doctorate in the first-classdiscipline of traditional Chinese medicine. In 2014, it was approvedto set up the post-doctoral mobile station of traditional Chinesemedicine, and basically established the medical degree andpost-graduate education system of traditional Chinese medicine withdiversified species and complete culture system.

Gansu University of Chinese Medicine Acupuncture and Massage
School of Acupuncture and Massage was founded in1985. Itenrolled master’s degree candidates in 1991 and doctoral candidatesin 2014. It mainly trains research-oriented, clinical application-oriented and interdisciplinary talents who canbeengaged in the treatment, teaching, research, prevention, healthcareand rehabilitationof acupuncture andmassage of traditional Chinese medicine. At present, the college hasatotal of 19 postgraduate tutors and 2 tutors of doctoral degreecandidates, who are undertaking 3 National Natural Science Funds, and several projects at the provincial, ministerial and universitylevels.

Clinical Chinese and Western Integrative Medicine

School of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine wasoriginally the Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese andWestern Medicine, which was founded in May 2004 and renamedasthe College of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine inAugust2013. The School aims to train applied talents. After graduation, students can be engaged in clinical treatment, teaching, scientificresearch and other works of traditional Chinese andwesternmedicine. In 2013, this discipline obtained the qualificationofdoctoral candidates training and has been recruiting doctoral candidates since 2014.

Gansu University of Chinese Medicine Public Health

The School of Public Health was founded in August 2013. Theschool takes the development of first-class discipline of public healthand preventive medicine as the main line, aims at cultivating appliedtalents with theoretical knowledge, experimental skills andfieldworking ability of applied preventive medicine, pays attentiontotheintegration of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine, gives full play to the leading role of traditional Chinese medicineinthe preventive treatment of disease, and continuously refines andcultivates relevant disciplines and specialties. In 2011 and2017, itreceived approval of two undergraduate majors of “PreventiveMedicine” and “Health Inspection and Quarantine” respectively,
and began enrollment in the same year. In 2014, it receivedtheapproval of MPH authorization unit and enrolled students inthefollowing year

The undergraduate major of clinical medicine was approvedin2002 and began to enroll students. In 2011, it was authorizedforamaster’s degree in clinical medicine and enrolled in 2012. Therearecurrently 18 second-level disciplines (internal medicine, surgery, critical medicine) , Anesthesiology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics,Obstetricsand Gynecology, Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Radiography, Ultrasound Medicine, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, Clinical Pathology, Geriatrics, Neurology, Rehabilitation Medicine and Physiotherapy, etc.), a total of 864postgraduates have been enrolled, 498 postgraduates are currentlyenrolled, and 366 have graduated.

The undergraduates (international students) majoringinInternational Economics and Trade of Traditional Chinese Medicineshall be trained to master the basic theories, knowledge andmethodsof economics and economic and trade majors, have anintimateknowledge of international economic and trade rules andbasicknowledge of medicine and pharmacy, understand and graspthedomestic and foreign economic and trade operation mechanismanddevelopment laws, acquire proficiency in the application of moderninformation technology and professional foreign language, havestrong international trade practical operation skills, withgoodcommunication, coordination ability and innovationandentrepreneurship spirit, and become applied talents withglobal vision and complete knowledge system. The basic length of schoolingfor this major is 4 years; a bachelor’s degree in economics shall beawarded.

Nursing of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine

The School of Nursing of Gansu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine began enrolling students in 1987. The School ofNursing has integrated the education and teaching concepts of”people-oriented and social demand-oriented” throughout the entireprocess of talent training, focusing on the integration of students’ basic knowledge, practical ability, and comprehensive quality. Coordinated development. In 2015, the nursing discipline wasapproved for the granting of an academic master’s degree innursingof integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, andbecamethe only postgraduate granting point for a master’s degree innursingin Gansu Province.
