Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan) is offering monthly office rental of 1 yuan ($.16) for three years to 28 high-caliber talents working on 17 projects at the Guangdong Provincial Entrepreneurship & Innovation (Zhuhai) Incubation Base for Doctoral & Postdoc Fellows.
The doctorates and postdocs are from renowned domestic and overseas universities like Harvard and Peking universities. Ten of their projects have signed agreements to settle in Tangjiawan on April 12, spanning biomedicine and medical devices, new energy and intelligent grids, as well as the digital economy. With total investment of 258 million yuan ($41 million), they are expected to generate annual output value of 670 million yuan ($105 million).
Zhang Yongbei, a doctorate working on a compound monascus yeast polysaccharide immunological nutrition product project, spoke highly of Zhuhai’s innovation and entrepreneurship environment, noting that it was a major reason for his project’s resettling from Hainan to Zhuhai. Zhang expressed his hope that a 6-billion-yuan ($94 million) big health industry can be built in the future.
Wang Xiaobin, director of the zone’s administrative committee, noted that high-quality 24/7 follow-up services will be provided to the projects. A multidimensional service system for high-caliber talents’ innovation and entrepreneurship will be formulated in Tangjiawan with integrated platforms, resources, and services.
The Hi-Tech Zone ranked 17th among 157 peers in the 2021 Evaluation Result of National Hi-Tech Zones released by the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center, with constant improvements in economic development, industrial agglomeration, and sci-tech innovation. Its Jingniuhui Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition has been held for seven consecutive years, attracting 3,000 innovative teams and over 20,000 participants from home and abroad.
Next, the zone will strive to attract more outstanding domestic and overseas doctorates and postdocs to Tangjiawan for the digitalized and intelligent transformation of local industries.
