Introduction

Founded in 1951,Chongqing Jiaotong University (CQJTU for short) is a teaching and research university with distinctive traffic characteristics, mainly work-oriented and multi-disciplinary and coordinated development. Currently, it consists of fifteen doctoral degree programs, sixty-five master’s degree programs, 58 undergraduate majors, and covers a great variety of disciplines from engineering and science to management, economics, science, art and law. It is also one of the earliest universities in Chongqing to carry out teaching Chinese as a foreign language. There are more than 2000 teaching staff, among them, more than 1500 full-time teachers and 700 with senior professional titles. At present, there are almost 27,000 full-time students on campus, including more than 3,500 doctoral and master’s degree students and more than 24,000 undergraduates. Since the time of CQJTU’s founding, more than 150,000 talents at all levels have been cultivated.

In 2004, we started recruiting international students, established Confucius Institute series with University of Abomey-Calavi in Benin in 2009 and the Confucius Institute in Washington state in the USA. In the Language Culture Training Center was established. Our university was approved as the first HSK network test site in Chongqing in 2012, opened an undergraduate course in Chinese International Education in 2014, and subsequently opened a complete courses in international trade, mechanical and electrical engineering, civil engineering, tourism management and others. In 2018,CQJTU also was approved for a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL for short) and Master of Business Management (MBM for short). More than 1,000 international students from more than 31countries on five continents have been trained, and they have been well received by all units and recognized by society, especially in Chinese-funded transportation and engineering institutions, Confucius Institutes (classrooms), Chinese and foreign business enterprises and cultural exchanges and training institutions.

Hsk4 is required for undergraduate courses and Hsk5 is required for postgraduates courses taught in Chinese English proficiency certificate is required for all courses taught in English

★Chinese language training

Project duration: 1-2 semesters or longer

Project introduction: cultivate international students’ ability to communicate in Chinese, provide HSK guidance, and be familiar with the basic situation of China as well as the cultural background knowledge, improve cultural literacy.

★Winter and summer camps and short-term projects

Project time: from January to February (winter), from July to August (summer), or separate classes in the semester (generally no more than 3 months) according to the needs of the group

Language of instruction: Chinese or English

Project introduction: for foreign university groups interested in Chinese, Chinese culture, Chinese economy and Chinese science and technology, we will provide professional courses in Chinese, economy and science and technology, deeply experience Chinese culture, and expand the cognition and understanding of Chinese business and modern technology. Customized courses can be provided according to the needs of the project。
