Capital Normal University (CNU) is a national “Double-First Class” university co-sponsored both by the Beijing Municipal Government and the Ministry of Education (MOE). CNU offers multiple disciplines including literature, science, engineering, management, law, education, foreign language and art etc. CNU is one of the earliest universities in China to carry out international student education. Now, CNU is entitled to Demonstration Base for International Students Education of Ministry of Education, Preparatory Education for International Students, Beijing Belt and Road National Talents Cultivation Base., HSK Testing Center and Beijing Chinese Language Education Base. All majors and levels of the school are open to international students.
I. Enrollment category: Full-time master’s and doctoral students.
For detailed information, please refer to the Catalogue of Master’s and Doctor’s Degree Enrollment Majors for International Students of Capital Normal University (website: https://cie.cnu.edu.cn/lhlx/zsgz/index.htm). Some Master’s programs and Doctoral programs can be taught in English, which needs to be confirmed with the International Student Admissions Office in advance.
Our school does not entrust any individual or intermediary to enroll Chinese government scholarship students. Please do not believe the paid services and false promises provided by the intermediary.
II. Applicant’s Conditions:
1. The applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen and in good health. According to Article 5 of the Nationality Law of the People’s Republic of China, if one or both parents are Chinese citizens and have settled in a foreign country, they will not have the Chinese nationality if they are born with foreign nationality. If they apply to study in our school as an international student, In addition to meeting other registration qualifications of the school, they should also hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for more than 4 years (inclusive), and have a record of actually living in a foreign country for more than 2 years in the last 4 years (as of April 30 of the enrollment year) (actually living in a foreign country for 9 months in a year can be calculated as one year, subject to the entry and exit signatures);
2. Applicant’s educational background and age requirements:
1) Those who study for a master’s degree in China must have a bachelor’s degree, be no more than 35 years old, and have a score of 210 or above in HSK5.
2) Those who study for doctoral degrees in China must have a master’s degree, be no more than 40 years old, and have a score of 210 or above in HSK5.
3. Excellent academic performance;
4. Strong scientific research ability;
5. This project is limited to recruiting overseas new students, and overseas undergraduate graduates or master graduates can also apply.
6. Those who have not received other scholarships established by Chinese governments at all levels and admission institutions are not allowed to apply for Chinese government scholarships within three years except for disqualification.
III. Scholarship Coverage:
Tuition, accommodation, living expenses, comprehensive medical insurance for international students in China.
IV. Application Process:
Applicants must truthfully fill in and submit the application materials in the application system of CSC and CNU:
1. Applicants must visit “CSC Study in China” website, fill in and submit the registration information online through the “Online Registration System for CS Studying in China”, and upload the electronic version of the documents according to the list of materials. The website of the online registration system for “CSC Study in China” is http://www.campuschina.org, and the accepting institution number of Capital Normal University is 10028.
2. After completing the registration of the “Online Registration System for Studying in China” of CSC, the applicant also needs to log in to the International Student Service System of Capital Normal University to register and upload the electronic version of the document according to the list of materials. List of Materials:
1. Copy of the first page of a valid ordinary passport (the passport should be valid later than March 2026);
2. The highest academic certificate notarized by the notary office recognized by the judicial department. If the applicant is a graduate, the applicant should submit the expected graduation certificate issued by his/her university;
3. Academic transcripts (from the undergraduate stage). Chinese/English transcripts can be provided. If they are in languages other than English, English translations should be provided and notarized;
4. Study plan in China. (No less than 1,500 words for doctoral degree, no less than 1,000 words for master degree), written in Chinese or English, it is necessary to state your educational background, understanding of China and your major, planning for future study, etc., focusing on academic ability and scientific research level. The study plan submitted by doctoral candidate applicants must be signed and confirmed by the tutor that our school intends to accept;
5. Referrals. Two letters of recommendation from two professors or associate professors of related disciplines must be provided, which should be written in Chinese or English. The content should focus on the requirements of the applicant’s study objectives in China, the cooperation between Chinese institutions or Chinese tutors and foreign tutors or inter-school exchanges, and the evaluation of students’ comprehensive ability and future development;
6. Proof of language ability. Applicants applying for Chinese as the professional medium of instruction should provide an HSK test report within the validity period. Applicants applying for English-taught program should provide IELTS or TOEFL transcripts. Those who have used Chinese as the teaching language to obtain a degree from a Chinese university do not need to provide HSK test report;
7. “Physical Examination Form for Foreigners”, the examination results are valid for 6 months;
8. Proof of no criminal record, usually within 6 months before the date of submission of the application;
9. Pre-admission materials: After the applicant passes the entrance examination (including material examination, interview, written examination, etc.), it will be uniformly issued by the International Student Admissions Office of the College of International Education.
Note:
1) The materials uploaded through the system must be clear, true and effective. It is recommended that the applicant use professional equipment to scan the relevant documents to be submitted, and the consequences caused by unclear or unrecognizable materials shall be borne by the applicant.
2) All materials must be uploaded to the application system through electronic documents, and there is no need to send the original or photocopy to our school by express delivery.
V. Deadline for application: March 1, 2025, If the enrollment is full, the enrollment will be ended early.
VI. Admission and Notice:
The International Student Admission Office of College of International Education will organize relevant colleges to conduct interviews and written examinations for applicants, and select international students with excellent discipline background, professional ability and future development potential. The final admission results will be subject to the evaluation results of discipline experts of the China Scholarship Council.
