How to apply:

Online application. Applicants please submit online application through http://gdufs.17gz.org/ and please get confirmation via phone call (0086-20-36207141) or email (studyiniie@gdufs.edu.cn) to the Admission Office, Institute for International Education (Admission Office, IIE).

Eligibility:

To be eligible, an applicant must:

(1) Be non-Chinese nationality, hold a foreign passport and meet the relevant requirements of the Regulation No.〔2020〕12 by Ministry of Education of the Peoples Republic of China.

(2) Stay in good health both mentally and physically, and meet the physical examination standards for the study visa or residence permit in China required by the Chinese government.

(3) Abide by Chinese laws and regulations and the University rules and regulations; be diligent and well-performed in academics and good conduct; no violation of the University rules and disciplines, no public security punishment, no criminal record.

(4) Meet the applied major requirements both in education degree and language proficiency.

(5) Under the age of 30 for the undergraduate programs, under the age of 35 for the postgraduate programs and under the age of 40 for the doctoral programs in principle.

(6) Abide by requirements of other relevant laws and regulations.

Degree Programs and Documentation Requirements:

Undergraduate Programs

1. Programs especially for international students by IIE:

The duration of these programs is 4 years. Coursesin the first two academic years give students a solid foundation in the basicsof the Chinese language. In the third and fourth years, special module coursesare offered.

1. Chinese Language (Business Chinese)

This program aims at training high-level international trade professionals by giving them a solid foundation in Chinese language and a systematic mastery of international trade theory. The conventions and regulations of international trade as well as an overview of the current situation in China are also provided. Graduates will be competent in business communication and translation relative to Chinese language and business culture and they will be trained to read business documents, articlesa nd books on economics in Chinese, as well as in writing Chinese for business-related themes.

Qualifications Required: Secondary high school certificate. Beginners of Chinese language learning will start from grade 1 while students who already have passed the new HSK4 could start directly from grade 2. Students who have already passed the new HSK5 could start directly from grade 3.

Tuition fee: RMB 20,000 / year; Application fee:RMB 500.

2. Chinese Language (Culture and Communication)

This program aims at training high-level professionals in media professions, cultural communication institutions, journalism businesses and other industries requiring workers with excellent Chinese language proficiency, expertise in communications, a deep understanding of Chinese culture and Chinese national conditions.

Qualifications Required: Secondary high school certificate. Students passing the new HSK4 may enroll directly in grade 2 and on passing new HSK 5, they may be enrolled directly in grade 3.

Tuition fee: RMB 20,000 / year; Application fee:RMB 500.

3. Chinese (Chinese-Thai Translation)

This major focuses on cultivating practical translation talents who have a solid foundation in Chinese language and skills in Sino Thai oral and written translation, with a focus on interpretation. Through theoretical learning and in class and in class practice, we aim to cultivate practical translation talents who are capable of handling specific situations such as Sino Thai culture and business.

Future after Graduation:

Thailand is a close and friendly neighbor of China, “China and Thailand are one family” is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people of the two countries. In recent years, the bilateral economic and trade cooperation between Guangdong Province and Thailand has been deepening, and the humanistic exchanges have been gradually warming up, and Thailand has been the most important source country of international students for GDUTS. Students can engage in business cooperation and exchange work related to Sino-Thai translation, or gets recommended by the University to study for a Master’s degree in Translation funded by the Center for Language Cooperation Scholarship.

Interpretation Skills and Practice, Translation Skills and Practice, Style and Rhetoric, Special Topic Translation, and Translation of Discourse with Chinese Characteristics

Admission criteria:

Secondary high school diploma, transcript, HSK level 5 certificate and entering exam organized by the University.

Application fee: RMB 500, tuition fee: RMB 20000/ year. Students with good qualifications are eligible to apply for Guangdong Provincial Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship or our university scholarship.

2. English-taught program especially for international students by IIE:

 

International Business (English-taught)

This major is designed to help students develop agood understanding of the basic theories, fundamentals and skills of theEnglish Language and international business management theory, as well as aprimary capability for conducting academic research. Courses are delivered through lectures, seminars and social practice. This program will prepare students for a high-caliber, versatile career in both international business management and cross-cultural communication.

Qualifications Required: Secondary high schoolcertificate; TOEFL 70 / IELTS 5.5 above for students from non-English-speaking countries (or pass the English language test organized by the Institute.).

2. Photocopy of new HSK level 5 certificate with score of 180 points or above for those who applying for Chinese-taught programs, and in additional:

(1) Take the necessary entrance examination. Format of entrance exam mainly would be: written exam and interview, or interview only;

(2) Photocopy of new HSK level 4 with the score of 180 points or above is required for those who applying for Chinese B.A program starting from the 2nd year, while those who applying for Chinese B.A program from the 1st year, the HSK certificate is not needed;

(3) TOEFL 70 or IELTS 5.5 above is required for applicants applying for English-taught program from non-English-speaking countries, or pass the entrance exam and interview organized by the IIE.

3. Photocopy of passport main page and Chinese visa page (*if any), and a 1-inch digital bareheaded colorized photo.

4. Medical examination report valid within 6 months.

Scholarship:

*Applicants must complete the online application and get confirmation from the Admission Office, IIE before applying for the scholarship, otherwise the application will be deemed invalid. Scholarships are limited and awarded competitively to top candidates. Scholarships available are:

Guangdong Government Outstanding Foreign Student Scholarship:

Application is available every year. Once granted, undergraduates will receive a one-time subsidy of RMB 10,000, postgraduate RMB 20,000 and doctorate RMB 30,000. Subsidy will be transferred to the student’s personal bank account at the end of December each year. GDUFS (The University) Scholarship:

Admission

The admission results are expected to be released from late June to early August, 2025. Please kindly note: the admission results displayed in the online application system only represent the university’s preliminary review opinions or intended admission, and the final admission results are subject to the official email notification of the University.

1. Nationality documents of the applicants and their parents

**Those who were originally citizens of Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region and Taiwan district then have acquired foreign nationalities need to submit:

(1)A certificate of cancellation of household registration or a certificate of renunciation of Chinese nationality, or an official certificate of non-Chinese nationality issued by a Chinese diplomatic representative or consular office.

(2) Proof of naturalization of foreign nationality for at least 4 years or above.

(3) Entry and exit records from 30 April 2021 to 30 April 2025.

** Applicants who acquired foreign nationality at birth and whose parents are both or one of the parents is a Chinese national are required to submit:

(1) Birth certificate or household register to prove kinship

(2) Proof that the applicant has acquired foreign nationality at birth

(3) The permanent residence certificate of the applicant’s parents (Chinese citizens) in a foreign country before the birth of the applicant

(4) Entry and exit records from 30 April 2021 to 30 April 2025.

If the above required documents is not in Chinese, a notarized Chinese translation shall be provided.

2. Non-Criminal Record Certificate

The applicant must submit a Non-Criminal Record Certificate issued by the local public security authorities usually within a 6-months’ validity before the date of submission of the application. The Non-Criminal Records Certificate should be with Chinese language translation and official notarization stamp from Chinese Embassy, or with the APOSTILLE verification. The certificate must be submitted to the University in original, scanned version or photocopy is invalid. Before sending the original, please be sure to send an electronic version to confirm with the University whether the content meets the requirement, and confirm the mailing address as well.

3. Notarized Guardian Guarantee Certificate

Anyone under the age of 18 before September 1, 2025 must submit a notarized guardian guarantee certificate, and the guardian must be an adult living in Chinese Mainland. The certificate must be submitted to the University in original, scanned version or photocopy is invalid. Before sending the original, please be sure to send an electronic version to confirm with the University whether the content meets the requirement, and confirm the mailing address as well. *Please note: Once the certificate is submitted, it will not be returned.

4. Other materials

Whether it is necessary to submit other supplementary materials other than those required in the above circumstances shall be subject to the actual situation of the applicant and the notice of the Institute for International Education.
