Xiangtan University (XTU) is a comprehensive and national key university in China, which was founded in accordance with Chairman Mao Zedong’s initiative in 1958. XTU (Xiangtan University) has been steadily developing to obtain more scientific achievements since its foundation. It was selected in the Double First-Class University list and jointly supported by the People’s Government of Hunan Provinceandthe Ministry of Education. It was also one of the few Chinese universities listed in THE, USNEWS and other famous world university rankings at the same time.

XTU (Xiangtan University) has a graduate school, 23 colleges/teaching departments, offering 9 major disciplines: literature, history, philosophy, science, engineering, economics, management, law, and art. The Mathematical discipline is listed in the world’s First-Class Disciplines project. The disciplines ofChemistry, Materials Science, Engineering,Mathematics,Computer Science andEnvironment/Ecology are among the world’s top 1% according to the Essential Science Indicators (ESI). I.Introductionto Silk RoadProgramat XTU（2024）

The Silk Road Program is a full scholarship program funded by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, which aims to train industry leaders and outstanding skilled talentsfor countries jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative.XTU (Xiangtan University) isauthorizedby the Ministry of Education tobe responsible for the execution of the programmein 2024. More precisely,on the strengths of theoretical economics in the Business School of XTU (Xiangtan University) ,XTU (Xiangtan University) is recruiting outstanding talents to study for master’s degree and doctoral degree of economics in Vietnam, Pakistan, Thailand, Malaysia, Russia and other Belt and Road countries.

Business School of XTU (Xiangtan University) has beenknown for its excellence and research contributions.Itis the birthplace of the discipline of “consumer economics” in China. In 1985, the first domestic magazine dedicated to the study of consumer economy, “Consumer Economy“, was published nationwide. After decades of development, the Business Schoolof XTU (Xiangtan University) hasdeveloped into an important national economics, management research base and talent training basewith2 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points,2 first-level discipline post-doctoral research stations,5 first-level discipline master’s degree authorization points and 4 professional master’s degree authorization pointsand 9 majors for undergraduate programs.Among them, the Theoretical Economics is a “Double First-Class” discipline in Hunan Province, and it ranks in the national top 30 among the fifth round of discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education and “Best Chinese Subject Ranking” in 2023.

II.Content of Scholarship of Xiangtan University

This scholarship covers:

4. Living stipends (Master’s degree applicants: 3,000 RMB/Month,Doctoral degree applicants: 3,500 RMB/Month)

IV.Eligibility

1.Non-Chinese citizensfrom Belt and Road countries,aged 18 (by September 1, 2024) or over, physically and mentally healthy, able to perform well in an academic program.

*Chinese citizens who apply to enter colleges and universities as foreign students after immigrating to foreign countries must hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for more than 4 years (inclusive) and a record of actual residence abroad for more than 2 years (9 months of actual residence abroad in a year can be regarded as one year,based on the entry and exit stamps) within the last 4 years (by April 30, 2024)

2.Adhere to Chinese laws and university regulations. RespectChineseculture.

3.Applicants must be:

●Bachelor’s degree holders and below theageof 35 when applying for master’s degree programs.

●Master’s degree holders and below theageof 40 when applying for doctoral degree programs.

4.Language requirements:

HSK level 4 or above for Chinese-taughtprograms; IELTS 6.0 or above or TOEFL 80 or above for English-taughtprograms.

*The above language proficiency certificate can be waived in either of the following conditions: Chinese/English as a native or official language; with corresponding Chinese/English instruction in the academic education period.

5.Applicants should meet the academic, language and other relevant requirements of the majorappliedfor.

6.Not receiving other types of scholarships.

V. Application Process

1.Log into the International Students Service Platform of Xiangtan University (https://xtu.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx) to register online and submit the application.

2.For college approved candidates, log into the “China Scholarship Council Online Application System for Studying in China” (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/register) to fill in and submit information through the agency number “10530” of Xiangtan University(the scholarship is of type B in the CSC system).

3.ApplicationDeadline: May 15, 2024.

VI. Application Paperwork

1.Copy of Passport Home Page. If the validity of the applicant’s current passport does not meet the requirement (meaning the passport expires before September 2024), please apply for a new passport before submitting the application.

2.Notarized highest diploma. Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

3.Academic transcripts(from the undergraduate program onwards). Copies of academic records from first to last semester during the undergraduate, graduate (if any), and doctoral programs (if any) shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department. They can be in Chinese or English, but must be attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than English.

4.Language qualification certificates. Scanned copy of HSK scores (for Chinese-taught program applicants); Scannedcopy of TOEFL or IELTS scores.The above language proficiency certificate can be waived in either of the following conditions: Chinese/English as a native or official language; with corresponding Chinese/English instruction in the academic educationperiod.

5.Study plan. A study planexpected should be more than 1,000 characters or words in Chinese or English. The content shall include your educational background, your understanding of China and your own major and your plans for future study, with emphasis on academic ability and research level. The study plan submitted by the PhD applicant must be signed and confirmed by the supervisor of the university who is interested in accepting the applicant.

6.Recommendation letters. Two letters of recommendation (written only in Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors shall be submitted. These letters shall describe the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth.

7.A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English(the original copy shall be kept by the applicant). The form is designed by the Chinese quarantine authority and can be obtained from the dispatching authority. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take a physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.

8.Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to thesubmission date of the application.

9.Supervisor’s Recommendation Form for International Students(if any)

Notes: Uploaded supporting documents must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are recommended to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded materials.

VII. Admissions and Notifications

1.Applicants will be considered on the basis of their research ability, academic performance, language proficiency and video interviews.

2.The final admission result is subject to the result announced bythe China Scholarship Council.

3.After approval by the China Scholarship Council, the university will send theAdmission Notice,the Visa Application for Study in China (Form JW201)and related applicationdocumentsto the accepted candidates by August2024.

4.The accepted students will be able to apply forthe study (X) visa in Chinaat the Chinese Embassy (Consulate) with their passports, the AdmissionNotice, the Visa Application forStudy in China(FormJW201), the Physical Examination Form for Foreigners, and theBloodTestReportForm, and come to the International Exchange Office ofXTUto complete the enrollment proceduresat the time specified in the AdmissionNoticewith the above documents.

VIII. Precautions

1.Applicants shall be responsible for the authenticity and completeness of their submitteddocuments. Any false or missing application documents will not be accepted.

2.All applicationdocumentsshallbe completed in Chinese or English and uploaded to the“International Students Service Platform of Xiangtan University”.
