The Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Industries Association revealed a robust schedule of 90 major exhibitions for 2025, showcasing the city’s thriving exhibition sector.
Among the events, each projected to cover over 50,000 square meters, nearly 40 are expected to exceed 100,000 square meters.
This lineup features internationally recognized events like Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, Appliances and Electronics World Expo (AWE), Hotelex Shanghai, China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF), and SNEC PV Power Expo.
The calendar also includes the biennial Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai) and marks the debut of the Shanghai International Advanced Air Mobility Expo.
Reflecting China’s national push for increased consumption, a considerable portion of the exhibitions will focus on emerging consumer trends. These include events catering to the “goods economy”, encompassing anime and gaming merchandise, such as Bilibili World and the China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference (ChinaJoy).
The schedule also features consumer-oriented events like Pet Fair Asia, China International Travel Mart (CITM), and the Shanghai Zen and Tea Culture Expo. The diverse range of specialized exhibitions underscores Shanghai’s dedication to innovation in product development, service delivery, and consumer engagement, further solidifying its position as a global hub for both the exhibition industry and consumer markets.
Data from SCEIA highlights a significant resurgence in Shanghai’s exhibition industry since 2023. Last year, the city hosted 48 exhibitions, each surpassing 100,000 square meters, collectively covering a record-breaking 9.96 million square meters.
In July 2024, Shanghai implemented measures to further invigorate its exhibition economy by attracting high-profile international events and fostering the growth of world-class exhibitions.
New entrants to the Shanghai market, particularly those ranked among the Global Top 100 Exhibitions and those certified by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, will receive substantial financial support.
