  • Beijing’s Most Spec-taco-lar Taco Tuesday Deals

    23:34 Author:Vincent R. Vinci

Another week has come and gone, and now we find ourselves at Tuesday once again. While there are plenty of dining and drinking deals to be had on Tuesdays, a great many of us see it as one special day: Taco Tuesday. Yes, it’s time once again to gorge on morsels of meat, sauces, and such layered on a lovely round tortilla – the perfect vehicle for a snack or quick meal enjoyed with a lager or marg in hand. Beijing has deals a plenty on Taco Tuesday, and below we’ve compiled some of our favorites to recommend. Las Musas After a brief hiatus for renovation, Las Musas is back with a brand new look but the same fantastic burritos, chips, margaritas, and, of course, tacos. Speaking of tacos, their Taco Tuesday special still stands: RMB 150 for all-you-can-eat tacos (limited to 15 per person) all day long. That means you can mix and match from their stellar lineup of Chicken Tinga, Al Pastor, vegan Jamaica and more. We’d personally just order 15 of their Al Pastor tacos and call it a day, but that’s just us. What’s more, they’ve also got 25 percent off on Margarita Pitchers every Tuesday as…Original link

The counter also tracks and provides start-to-finish project registration services. The ‘Fast Track’ service is available for both projects managed by the Hainan Development and Reform Commission as well as the National Development and Reform Commission. For the former, companies should consult the service desk on relevant overseas investment policies, and submit required materials. Staff members will provide information on required supplementary materials and needed corrections within 1-3 business days, giving guidance to the company on how to meet the investment requirements. In principle, the Hainan Development and Reform Commission will inform the company within one business day whether the application will be accepted. • Why Chinese Parents are Buying Plastic Waste Online

    23:32 Author:That is Guangzhou

Since a revised guideline on household waste disposal was implemented back in May 2020, schools in China have been diligently working to educate their students about waste management and classification. As a result, many schools have seen their campuses trash cans get tidier (sadly, the same can’t be said about most neighborhood waste bins). Now, as China works to promote environmental awareness in schools, students are being taught about responsible recycling practices. In order to encourage these habits, teachers are assigning students to collect large amounts of plastic waste and other recyclable materials each month. Although they are sometimes voluntary, these recycling projects often have strict rules – requiring students to collect dozens of items – or even more – with failure to meet the quotas affecting their grades and teacher assessments. This has caused parents to start ordering plastic junk online. In recent months, ‘recycling waste’ has become one of the most popular product categories on Chinese e-commerce platforms such as the secondhand app Xianyu. Empty milk cartons available on Xianyu One of the more popular items is empty milk cartons – a bundle of 100 goes for around RMB30. Other items include cardboard, empty pens, and flattened bottles. Many people…Original link

  • New research unveils mechanism of serious eye inflammation

    23:28 Author:Shanghai Daily Shine

Autoimmune uveitis, swelling of the colored portion of the eyes, is a prevalent ocular autoimmune disease leading to significant visual impairment and is the cause of up to 25 percent of blindness. Due to its complexity, frequency of relapse, and complicated pathogenesis, treatment for AU is limited to hormone therapy or immunosuppressants, which often have complications such as increased risk of cataracts, glaucoma, osteoporosis, and diabetes. Safer and more effective treatment is in great demand and a clearer understanding to the disease's underlying pathogenesis is a must. Experts from the Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, after conducting genetic sequencing and animal models, for the first time disclosed that the enzyme histone deacetylases (HDAC) plays a key role in what happens to AU. Based on that discovery, the experts further investigated the molecular mechanisms of HDAC's effects on the disease, and conducted experiments to confirm HDAC's connection with inflammatory gene expression. Experts said the research was very meaningful, as it had for the first time found patients have higher level of HDAC and explains the mechanisms for AU formation, offering a promising therapeutic strategy. In the next step, they will carry out larger pre-clinical and clinical research to explore the safety and…Original link

    21:20 Author:Shanghai Daily Shine

Shanghai Pudong International Airport has seen a significant surge in passenger traffic, reaching over 20 million arrivals and departures by August 29. This figure more than doubles the number from the same period last year, surpassing the previous year's total by 20 percent. China's expanding visa-free and visa exemption policies, along with ongoing border facilitation measures from the National Immigration Administration, are the reasons for the surge. Since last year, China has introduced or reinstated various visa exemptions, including unilateral visa-free policies for 15 countries such as France, Germany and Australia, and mutual visa exemptions with countries like Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. Additionally, the 144-hour transit visa-free policy now covers 37 ports and applies to travelers from 54 countries. These measures have contributed to the steady rise in foreign arrivals, making Shanghai a top entry point for international visitors to China. So far this year, the airport has processed 2.25 million foreign arrivals, the highest among all ports in the country.
