The 2024 Conference on Innovation and Development in China’s Newspaper Industry took place in Nanning, the capital of southern China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on Monday.
Hosted by the National Press and Publication Administration, the event presented 60 exemplary cases that highlight in-depth integration, development, and innovation within China’s newspaper industry.
EyeShenzhen, the international communication platform of the Shenzhen News Group, was the only project from Shenzhen to receive recognition in the multimedia communication development category. EyeShenzhen also presented its innovative international communications practices at the concurrent 2024 Exhibition of Innovation and Development in China’s Newspaper Industry.
The 60 exemplary cases illustrated the significant progress and achievements that have been made in China’s newspaper industry. The conference’s goal is to maximize the impact of these cases, promote the establishment of an all-media communication system within the industry, accelerate the creation of a new landscape for mainstream public opinion, and support the emergence of mainstream new media outlets that are both influential and competitive.
Intl. communications endeavors
Over the past year, EyeShenzhen has harnessed resources spanning international publicity, foreign affairs, the external economy, foreign trade and investment, and overseas wisdom to forge strong external connections, thereby creating a collaborative ecosystem with international partners and generating new momentum for Shenzhen’s international communications initiatives.
Since its launch last year, EyeShenzhen has maintained a global perspective, utilizing social networking as a bridge, marketing as a tool, and brand construction as its foundation.
Through six key initiatives, including a multilingual website, a dynamic overseas social media matrix, the Shenzhen Global Communication Ambassadors group, an urban IP resource-sharing library, a digital international communication AI lab, and a global promotional platform for the city’s image, EyeShenzhen is committed to sharing Shenzhen stories with the world and promoting the city’s brands in international markets.
In June 2023, the Shenzhen News Group Global Communication Center and the EyeShenzhen multilingual international communication platform were officially launched. This initiative encompasses brands such as Shenzhen Daily, the EyeShenzhen nine-language official website, the Shenzhen Global Communication Ambassador Club, the Digital EyeShenzhen image IP resource-sharing platform, the EyeShenzhen Showroom, and the EyeShenzhen Academy.
Operating under the name “EyeShenzhen” with the tagline “Always Day One,” the center’s mission is to serve as an international information service provider and a comprehensive marketing organization for Shenzhen brands.
World-class media ambition
EyeShenzhen aims to establish itself as the primary IP for Shenzhen’s international communication. The organization is restructuring its operational model by drawing inspiration from the innovative culture of Silicon Valley tech companies and adopting an engineering mindset.
This restructuring includes the implementation of a “3+3” structure, which entails three main centers and three workshops that will efficiently manage daily operations and the execution of key projects. The ultimate goal is to evolve into a market-oriented and internationalized communications agency that will support the Shenzhen News Group’s ambition of becoming a world-class media entity.
EyeShenzhen portal launches multiple new web pages
The EyeShenzhen multilingual international information portal Sunday launched several innovative web pages that aim to provide global users with more convenient and practical information services.
Among the new web pages, the “Shenzhen Travel” section offers inbound travelers essential information on topics like visas, tax refunds, communication services, emergency hotlines, payment methods, public transportation options, tourist attractions, popular travel routes, hotels, dining recommendations, and shopping guides.
The “Digital EyeShenzhen” section aims to establish a shared digital image intellectual property resource library for Shenzhen by promoting an open-source philosophy that encourages community involvement in providing digital resources.
The “Opportunities in SZ” section aims to link global investors, entrepreneurs, and professionals by offering comprehensive, authoritative, and timely information about Shenzhen’s business landscape, market opportunities, and career prospects.
Furthermore, the revamped “Talent” section is a collaboration with the Shenzhen International Science and Technology Information Center that will deliver high-quality, open-source services and address the information needs of expats, high-end talent, overseas investors, and global visitors. Additionally, a public welfare technology initiative within this section will strongly support researchers, scholars, and corporate innovators in exchanging ideas and sharing experiences.
As globalization accelerates and media convergence deepens, EyeShenzhen remains committed to its philosophy of “equality, youth, and excellence.”
