Shanghai Customs revealed on Feb 25 that it handled a total of 4.77 million inbound and outbound passenger trips during this year’s Spring Festival travel rush, which ran from Jan 14 to Feb 22.

This marked a 28 percent increase compared with the same period last year.

Of the total, 4.49 million trips were made by air, up 23.2 percent year-on-year, while 283,000 trips were via cruise ports, surging 233 percent from the same period last year.

Shanghai continues to enhance its customs and immigration services, offering streamlined processes and high-quality service for travelers.

In a related development, at 9 am on Feb 25, as the cruise ship Seven Seas Explorer docked at the Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal at the North Bund in Hongkou district and passengers disembarked, the area welcomed its 13,310th inbound visitor of the year.
