Shanghai and Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates capital, signed a strategic cooperation agreement to further develop friendly relations between the two cities. Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng attended the signing ceremony.

The agreement aims to expand cooperation in trade, investment, finance, and technological innovation, promoting people-to-people exchanges and cultural ties.
Chen said that China and the UAE are trusted friends and partners in mutual growth. As China’s economic hub and a leader in reform and opening-up, Shanghai welcomes more businesses from Abu Dhabi to invest here.
Gong expressed optimism that both sides’ universities and research institutions would deepen cooperation in fields such as AI, the digital economy, smart cities, and biomedicines. He said he looks forward to expanding cultural, artistic, and tourism exchanges to strengthen mutual understanding.
Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi said that he hopes that both sides could find more opportunities for collaboration in trade, investment, technology, and culture to build more solid cooperation and ensure lasting friendship.
Feb 18 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Erbolat Dossaev, mayor of Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Gong expressed his hope to enhance the friendly relations between Shanghai and Almaty through the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative. He called for exchanges in areas such as economy, trade, education, and cultural tourism, aiming for a higher level of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.
Dossaev conveyed his eagerness to establish a closer cooperative relationship with Shanghai. He welcomed Shanghai enterprises to invest in Almaty, highlighting Almaty as a strategic gateway for accessing the Central Asian and European markets.
