Fudan University recently announced a recruitment drive for research talent in the field of artificial intelligence for its newly established Institute of Trustworthy Embodied Artificial Intelligence.

The institute, which officially launched in January, aims to lead cutting-edge research and practical applications in the realm of embodied intelligence.

The institute’s focus is on creating AI systems that can autonomously explore and learn from the physical world, and make decisions, adhering to human values and continuously evolving.

The institute aims to bring together experts from a range of disciplines, including computer vision, natural language processing and robotics. By fostering interdisciplinary innovation, it seeks to develop trustworthy embodied intelligent agents that mimic human behavior to advance human-machine collaboration.

In line with its strategic goals, the institute is seeking candidates for positions such as postdoctoral researchers, assistant professors, associate professors and tenured faculty members.

The positions offer competitive salaries ranging from 600,000 yuan ($82,320) to over 1 million yuan per year, with no upper limit on research performance-based bonuses.

Additional benefits include research startup grants, housing subsidies and academic exchange opportunities, such as a tax-free living subsidy of 500,000 yuan and up to 900,000 yuan in subsidies for housing purchases for eligible young overseas scholars.

In addition to its research initiatives, Fudan University is significantly expanding its AI education program. Starting in the 2024-25 academic year, the university will offer 116 AI-BEST courses, aimed at enhancing AI literacy and practical skills for students across diverse disciplines.
