Shanghai has once again updated the English version of Suishenxing, also known as SH MaaS, one of the city’s most convenient transport apps, according to the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Transport.
The latest update expands the app’s coverage to nearly all forms of transportation in Shanghai, including buses, metro, suburban railways, maglev trains, ferry lines, taxis, shared bikes, and smart parking.
A “one-for-all” QR code now allows for seamless boarding of buses, metro, and other forms of transport, while the app also offers real-time transportation information.
How to download the English version?
The video, provided by the Municipal Commission of Transport, demonstrates how to download the app.
• For Chinese app stores: Search for “随申行/Suishenxing.”
• For overseas app stores: Search for “SH MaaS.”
The app supports both Chinese and English languages, and users can easily switch between the two.
After downloading, you can sign up using either a Chinese or overseas mobile phone number, or log in via authorization from a third-party app. For returning users, the app will default to the language last used during login.
What are the benefits of the English version?
1. Access to multiple forms of transport
A screenshot from the English version of the SH MaaS app shows the various transportation services it offers.
With just one app, users can access various public transportation services across Shanghai, including buses, metro, suburban railways, maglev trains, and ferries. The app also supports alternative mobility options such as bike-sharing, taxis, and smart parking.
2. One-for-all QR code
The screenshot on the left shows how users can add up to two co-passengers; the screenshot on the right displays the prices for 1-day, 3-day, and 7-day travel passes.
The app offers a universal QR code, also known as the Shanghai QR Code, or Suishenma in Chinese, for seamless access to the metro, buses, ferries, and more.
For group travel, the app allows users to add up to two companions’ codes to their phone without specifying their identities. One phone can scan the codes in sequence for both the user and accompanying passengers to access public transport.
Additionally, users can purchase and activate 1-day, 3-day, or 7-day travel passes for unlimited rides on buses, metro, and ferries. Foreign tourists can select a pass that best suits their travel plans.
3. Real-time public transport information
The screenshot on the left shows real-time updates on nearby public transport, while the screenshot on the right highlights the transportation options available at Pudong International Airport through the “Hub Connect” feature.
The English version provides foreign travelers with real-time updates on metro, bus, ferry and other services, including route details, stops, and first and last train schedules. Users can also check live updates on vehicle arrivals and waiting times.
For international travelers arriving at Shanghai airports or railway stations, the app’s “Hub Connect” feature offers quick access to various transportation options.
