I’ve been in Shaoxing for nearly two years, and since there aren’t many foreigners here, I started hosting board game nights in Hangzhou to find new friends and bring people together. We’ve played popular games like Citadels, Deception: Murder in Hong Kong, The Resistance: Avalon, and Secret Hitler. I have more than 30 games at home, and every weekend, I load a huge backpack with them and ride my e-bike from Shaoxing to Hangzhou for 1.5 hours to set up a game night. Organizing these nights has been a way to connect, especially since moving from work to online English teaching gives me more time. Sometimes we even get 20 people! I bring all sorts of games, so no one has to wait around — they just jump in and start playing.–Roman Gladkih(Belarus)
