Shanghai’s Fengxian district welcomed its first Nobel Prize Workstation on Oct 28, alongside the launch of the 13th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Future Health Sector Competition).
A highlight of the workstation’s inauguration was a keynote speech given by Carol Greider—the 2009 Nobel laureate in Physiology or Medicine—who addressed the potential for “new telomere technologies for disease treatment”.
The workstation, a collaboration between the district and the United Stated molecular biologist, aims to foster scientific breakthroughs by connecting top-tier research teams and experts.
It aims to facilitate collaborative research initiatives and offer invaluable learning and exchange opportunities for young scholars and researchers, connecting them with leading figures in the field, as announced at the launch ceremony.
What’s more, the workstation will collaborate with Shanghai Shengyan Life Science, a Fengxian-based company, to expedite clinical trials and the commercialization of existing immune cell therapies.
The partnership will seek to optimize cell therapy technology platforms, reduce production costs and further explore the potential of immune cells in cancer treatment.
