Shanghai’s Lin-gang Special Area will join hands with the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China to build the city into an internationally influential civil aviation center that can compete with the existing ones such as Seattle and Toulouse.
The consensus was arrived at during the 2024 Shanghai Civil Aviation Industry Development Conference, which was held on Oct 16.
Lingang Group, Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Company, Lin-gang Special Area, and COMAC signed cooperation agreements on promoting the high-quality development of the large aircraft industry and the formation of a large aircraft industrial cluster.
A representative of COMAC said that the corporation will remain deeply rooted in Lin-gang Special Area. By leveraging the industrial resources, innovation capacity, capital chain, and talent pools in Shanghai and Lin-gang, the corporation will continue to play its part in building the city into an international civil aviation center.
Fifteen key projects in the aviation industry were settled on the same day, worth 26 billion yuan ($3.66 billion) in total. Covering sectors such as aircraft structure, composite materials, and airborne systems, these initiatives will inject fresh momentum into the development of the civil aviation industry.
