Shanghai has unveiled a new attraction in time for the upcoming National Day holiday, as starting from Oct 1, a new low-altitude helicopter route will be available for thrill-seekers to explore the city’s central urban area.

The journey starts from the Longhua Flight Base in Xuhui district, with the helicopter accommodating a maximum of five passengers.

The route is operated by Shanghai New Sky Helicopter Co, a Shanghai-based aviation company approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

Flying at altitudes ranging from 200 to 300 meters, passengers can admire the picturesque scenery along the Huangpu River. Both the noise impact and safety risks were thoroughly assessed and evaluated by relevant authorities beforehand and found to be acceptable.

The tickets for the flight from Longhua Flight Base to Lujiazui, covering around 24 kilometers in 10 minutes, range from 1,980 yuan ($282) per person per trip to 7,500 yuan for four persons per trip. A charter flight for six people for 20 minutes costs 25,800 yuan.
