Knife attack leaves 3 dead, 15 injured in Shanghai supermarket

A knife attack at a Shanghai supermarket on the evening of September 30 left three people dead and 15 injured, police said on October 1.

Police received a report of the stabbing at the supermarket on Songhui Road M. in Songjiang District at 9:47pm and arrested the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Lin, at the scene.

Eighteen people were injured in the attack, with three succumbing to their injuries despite emergency medical treatment. The remaining injured are in stable condition.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Lin attacked due to personal financial disputes. The case remains under further investigation.
