It’s the hop hoppiest season of all in Beijing for beer lovers: from now ’til October there are some notable beer events to get your craft beer fix. Three big ones to be exact, the details of which are below…
Chaoyang Intl. Beer Fest
This beastie of a beer fest returns to Chaoyang Park for 2024, with 500+ well known domestic and international breweries taking part, plus 100+ new craft beers to peruse. There are also tunes in the form of a massive EDM party, water games, drinking games, and more fun throughout the weekend. If that isn’t enough enticement, how about vouchers with your ticket purchase? All tickets come with RMB 10 craft beer vouchers and RMB 5 meal vouchers available during the event (details below), meaning more opportunities to try more beer and food during your visit.
The 2024 Chaoyang Intl. Beer Festival is happening from Aug 23-25, 3pm-11pm (last entry at 10pm) each day, at the 10,000 People Square in Chaoyang Park. Single-day tickets are RMB 89/person (includes 3 x RMB 10 craft beer vouchers and 4 x RMB 5 meal vouchers), RMB 158/two people (includes 6 x RMB 10 craft beer vouchers and 8 x RMB 5 meal vouchers). Tickets can be purchased by scanning the QR code above. Click here to read more.
Slowbeer Beijing Happening at El Nido
This one is a wee bit different than a traditional beer fest. Spread across four of El Nido’s branches, with each branch serving wildly different beers from wildly different breweries. Think Wild Mushroom Ale from Austin, Texas’ Jester King, sour beer from Italy, and even some special goodies like rare bottles of Firestone Walker to sake and natural wine.
The Slow Beer Beijing Fest at El Nido is happening from Aug 22-25 at El Nido Beiluoguxiang, Baitasi, Xingfucun, and Bird’s Nest branches. Tokens can be purchased to exchange for participating beers, with RMB 128/four tokens, RMB 268/nine tokens, and RMB 568/20 tokens. Click here to read more.
Slowboat’s Annual IPA Week Returns for 10th Year
For ten years running, Slowboat has dedicated one week each year to the India Pale Ale to showcase all the interpretations and variations of this style of beer. IPA Week is back without fail for this milestone, with 20 different IPAs available on tap at all Slowboat locations to try!
Guest beers for 2024 include breweries from all across China, from the likes of Shenzhen’s ET Brewing and Chongqing’s Hopscraft to Guilin’s Somad and Shanghai’s Brewlosophy and Sad Gorilla Club to name but a few. You’ll be able to try all these throughout the week at RMB 45 each, with one Slowboat IPA available each day for RMB 35.
Slowboat’s IPA Week is happening from Aug 23 ‘til Sep 1 at all Slowboat locations. Guided tastings are also taking place on Aug 25 at 3.30pm, Aug 26 at 6.30pm, and Aug 28 at 6.30pm at Slowboat’s Maizidian branch. While entry for IPA Week is free, the guided tastings are RMB 188/person. Spots can be booked by scanning the QR code in the poster above.
Early Bird Tickets Now on Sale for Jing-A’s 8×8 Beer Project
Although this final entry is a bit of a ways off, Jing-A’s 8×8 Beer Project is not something to miss for craft beer imbibers. Back for its eighth year, 8×8 pairs eight Chinese craft brewers with eight breweries from a certain country or region and challenges them to combine their expertise to make one new beer each for the event – so eight beers in total, that’s a lot of eights.
This year, the UK is in the spotlight, and all the breweries tapped to attend have been paired with their Chinese counterparts. What will they brew up and how will it taste? Best to grab your tickets for the event and see! What’s more, all the participating UK breweries will be bringing fresh beers to try as well, so there is a lot more stuff to savor.
Jing-A’s 8×8 Beer Project will be taking place from Oct 18-19 at the C7 Light Theater in Universal Creative Park in Wangjing. Early bird tickets are RMB 218/person and limited to 600 tickets. Single session tickets are RMB 248/person, single session combo tickets are RMB 328/person, and VIP tickets are RMB 888 person. Click here to find out more and purchase early bird tickets.
