Wuhan is one of the best places to see cherry blossoms in the country. To share the beautiful scenery with people who cannot visit these places in person, an online concert was held on March 20, showing lovely night views of the blossoming season in Wuhan.
The concert was live-streamed by nearly 40 media platforms such as the People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, CCTV News, xuexi.com, and Changjiang Daily.
The one-hour live stream started with the chiming of the Hankou Customs House clock. The camera then shifted to the concert at the East Lake Cherry Blossom Garden. Bathed in moonlight, performers presented folk music under the cherry trees featuring the guzheng (Chinese plucked zither) and the flute. They also gave traditional Chinese dance performances.
More than 70 million people tuned into the online concert. One netizen left this message: “Hope I will have a chance to visit my favorite cherry blossoms and beautiful scenic spots in Wuhan next year.”
