Shenzhen’s permanent resident population reached 17.9895 million people by the end of 2024, an increase of 199,400 people, or 1.12% year on year, according to Shenzhen Fabu, the Shenzhen Municipal Government Information Office’s official WeChat account, Thursday. Last year was the second consecutive year that Shenzhen led Guangdong Province cities in terms of population growth, which expands the labor pool, creates new markets, fosters innovation, enhances human capital, and drives economic growth.
