To create a festive atmosphere for movie-goers during the Spring Festival holiday, Beijing is launching a favorable campaign that offers CNY 33 million worth of movie-watching subsidies. The initiative will run from January 29 (the first day of the first month of the traditional Chinese calendar) to February 16 (the nineteenth day of the first month of the traditional Chinese calendar) and is expected to cover over 300 cinemas. Throughout the campaign period, a range of discounts are available through both the Maoyan App and Taopiaopiao App.
Limited-Time Offers
A CNY-30 discount will be available on tickets for cinema movies screened before 9:30. The Maoyan App allows every user to buy up to two tickets per order. The Taopiaopiao App enables every user to buy one ticket per order per week. Only 13,000 such discounts will be available daily from January 29 to February 4, and 3,250 will be available daily from February 5 to 16.
Instant Discounts on Ticket Purchase
Every movie-goer can receive a CNY-15 discount every day. One can purchase up to two tickets per order through the Maoyan App and one ticket per order through the Taopiaopiao App. A total of 74,000 such discounts will be available daily from January 29 to February 4, and 33,500 discounts will be available daily from February 5 to 16.
Family Discounts
When buying through the Maoyan App, one can receive a CNY-20 discount on each ticket after buying three tickets (which means that such discounts will not be available if just buying one or two tickets) for movies during the prime hours (14:00-21:00). Only 30,000 such discounts will be available daily from January 29 to February 4, and 6,700 will be available daily from February 5 to 16.
Movie Zones
The users of the Maoyan App and Taopiaopiao App can purchase movie tickets for as low as CNY 19.9 per ticket. There will also be a discount of CNY 2-60 on each ticket.
Additionally, promotional initiatives, including “CNY-9 Movies” and “CNY-30 Discounts on Orders Over CNY 10”, have been jointly launched by the Bank of Beijing and the Maoyan App. One may get an instant discount when purchasing tickets through the Zhangshang Jingcai (掌上京彩) App and get a movie voucher of up to CNY 10 from the “X+ Membership – Movie Vouchers” (X+会员-观影优惠活动) section on the Jingcai Shenghuo (京彩生活) App.
China UnionPay’s Beijing branch has introduced a promotion where users can enjoy payment discounts when settling at the check-out counters of the Maoyan App and Taopiaopiao App. UnionPay users can each get a CNY-8 discount on a movie ticket order over CNY 20 in Beijing, with a total of two discounts offered for every user during the period.
The ICBC eLife App’s section for movie tickets also offers the possibility of “scratching off” a discount coupon for a ticket worth a certain amount for the Maoyan App.
