On January 16, Hangzhou rolled out Hangzhou Biodiversity Conservation Strategy and Action Plan (2024-2035).

The plan specifies four priority areas for biodiversity conservation, such as advancing biodiversity mainstreaming, mitigating the threat of biodiversity loss, promoting sustainable utilization, and strengthening intelligent governance. The relevant policies, regulations and measures are released.

For example, Hangzhou plans to build more than 200 new urban parks to enrich citizens’leisure life and enhance urban biodiversity.

Hangzhou also delineates the red line for ecological protection that occupies an area of 4,693.5 square kilometers, covering multiple areas with rich biodiversity, such as Tianmu Mountain, Qingliang Peak, and Xixi Wetland.
