Wuhan targets GDP growth at 6 pct in 2025

Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, expects to notch a year-on-year gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 6 percent this year, according to a government work report delivered at the fifth session of the 15th Wuhan Municipal People’s Congress on Wednesday.

In 2025, the city aims to create 250,000 new jobs in urban areas, and control the consumer price index (CPI) growth at around 2 percent, according to the report.

Wuhan will strive to promote the development of competitive industries including optoelectronic information industry and high-end equipment industry. The city will also stimulate innovation in the field of artificial intelligence and boost the low-altitude economy through a wide range of measures.

According to a preliminary estimate, Wuhan’s GDP exceeded 2.1 trillion yuan in 2024, registering a year-on-year growth of 5 percent. And 298,000 new jobs were created in urban areas.
