Wuhan Tianhe International Airport handled 1.289 million inbound and outbound trips in 2024, representing a year-on-year increase of 121.77 percent and ranking first among all border ports in central China, official data showed on Friday.
The surge in travelers is due to China’s mutual visa exemption agreements with other countries, the 240-hour visa-free transit policy and other favorable policies, attracting visitors from around the world.
Inbound trips made by foreign visitors surged to more than 100,000 in 2024, skyrocketing by 200 percent year on year. South Korea, Malaysia, the United States and Singapore are the main sources of tourists.
In 2024, Wuhan Tianhe International Airport launched five air routes to Osaka in Japan, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam, and reached 18 international and regional destinations. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei）
