The First Mecha Festival in China will be held at Chang’an Mills, Shougang Park from December 31, 2024 to February 15, 2025.
A range of mechas will be on display at the Mecha Festival, such as the Great Wall Dragon (New Year Edition), which is said to be the “No.1 Mecha in China”, the first Mecha in Ancient Architecture Silk Road (Qianmen), which blends mecha elements with traditional Chinese ancient architecture, the White Tiger Mecha Animal from the Legend of Qin, which was made based on the same prototype in the Chinese animation of the same name, and the METAL ZOO series, which is an original public welfare project. There will be a few real-life driving experiences to try out, and the Crystal of Atlan mobile game co-branded mecha will also launch during the event.
Using the intellectual property of the science fiction film The Wandering Earth, Killerbody will recreate Moss in the future and display wearable exoskeleton suits, astronaut helmets, surface suit helmets, and other items from the film. The latest G1 humanoid intelligent body and Go2 robot dog of Unitree Technology will present flash dance performances. With ink serving as the foundation for mecha construction, sci-fi ink artist Wang Geng will present a massive exhibition of ink mecha art paintings. The five main mecha models from the film Pacific Rim—Crimson Typhoon, Cherno Aplpha, Gipsy Danger, Striker Eureka, and Coyote Tango—will be on display at Kaitian Studio, a pioneer in digital art in the country.
Additionally, tours will feature a six-meter-tall mythological beast called Qilin, whose original mecha IP was inspired by “Shanhaijing (Classic of Mountains and Seas).”
